Mendeleev Monday - Atomic Number 7 - Nitrogen [N] makes up around 78% of the Earth's atmosphere. It is a colorless, odorless and tasteless gas that is mainly created from within the hearts of dying stars which then gets expelled via supernovas. Nitrogen is used within fertilizers, food packaging, Racing and airplane tires and in its liquid form it serves as a cryogenic agent for preservation purposes.

Mendeleev Monday -Atomic Number 6 - Carbon (C). Carbon is an essential building block of life, forming the basis of DNA and proteins in 20% of the human body. It is created in the interior of stars and has the highest melting point of all elements - at over 3550 °C. Carbon acts like "nature's Lego set" as its atoms can bond in numerous ways, allowing it to exist in vastly different forms ranging from hard transparent diamonds to soft black graphite.

Today encourages people to get together with friends and family and participate in a scavenger hunt. Combining aspects of competitive hunting, racing, and hide and seek, it remains a popular game and can be educational too.

Mendeleev Monday -Atomic Number 5 - Boron (B). Boron is too reactive to exist in its pure form, instead it exists combined with other elements. Essential for plant growth, Boron is also a beneficial micro-nutrient for us, used in fireworks, durable glassware & strong magnets.

Mendeleev Monday - Atomic Number 4 - Beryllium (Be). Named after one of the minerals that it is sourced from. Due to its strength, lightness, and stiffness, beryllium is commonly found in medical imaging, electronics, alloys and in the aerospace and defense industries.

Mendeleev Monday Atomic Number 3 - Lithium (Li). Lithium is the lightest solid element. It is not found freely in nature, instead it is extracted from ores or salt flats. Due to its high chemical reactivity and excellent thermal conductivity, lithium is used in: rechargeable batteries, fireworks, spacecraft, satellites, and is considered a potential fuel for nuclear fusion.
