Originally from Ireland and now based in Waterloo, Karl has studied photography at several universities and worked as a professional photographer in the UK. He has published numerous photography books and taught photography at a variety of institutions, including the Button!

It’s the perfect weather to make flower cards….so thats exactly what we did! 🌷Today Patty’s workshop “Paper Quilling Flower Cards” was a huge hit!

With time and effort everyone crafted such intricate and detailed cards! Each cards was unique with different flowers and patterns used!

It’s been a while, so we thought we’d dig into the archives...

Check out this photo of the original staff who worked here when the Button Factory was actually, well, a button factory! This image shows the Roschman brothers and their staff back when they ran the factory.

Later when we became the Waterloo Community Arts Centre, our front steps and sign looked like the image below! You’ll also spot a brochure from the City of Waterloo’s Waterloo Heritage Preserved series, which featured the building in 1989.

Tulip season is upon us - and so is our Annual Tulip Sale! 🌷🌱

Join us in our annual tradition of preparing tulip bulbs to help fundraise for the Button starting on Monday, June 8th at 10am! We are asking for volunteers to come enjoy some sunshine with us and assist in preparing the City of Waterloo’s donated bulbs and bagging them for sale.

Participants must be comfortable with regular gardening duties such as:
• Being outdoors for a few hours daily
• Handling dirt and stems

Depending on weather, number of volunteers and tulips, several days of assistance will be needed - typically early in the day between 10am-1pm. All materials will be provided. If you are interested or have additional questions, please reach out to Erin at [email protected] ☀️
