Opera Laurier was very honoured to present “The Llandovery Castle” with music by Stephanie Martin and libretto by Paul Ciufo.
This is a true story of incredible bravery, resilience and compassion in the face of unspeakable tragedy. These 14 nursing sisters devoted their lives to healing and helping others. Through this story, told so beautifully through music, we get to see the relationships, fears and hopes of these incredible humans.
As we close this show tonight, we wanted to extend a warm thank you to everyone who came to support this show and help to honour the lives lost aboard the Llandovery Castle. Thank you to our incredibly creative team and everyone who put so much care into bringing this show to life.

This opera holds humour and tragedy in the same breath, telling the story of the torpedoed hospital ship through the voices of the strong, sharp, and deeply human people who were on board.
