Alberta Fire Chiefs Association is having there 78th Annual Conference and Trade Show in Red Deer May 24-27, at Westerner Park. We will be there May 24 & 25, come stop by and see us!

🔥 FIRE RESTRICTION IN EFFECT 🔥

Due to conditions, the M.D. of Wainwright has implemented a Fire Restriction effective as of Wednesday May 6, 2026 until further notice. The M.D. will issue no new Fire Permits, and all existing permits are herby rescinded within Municipal boundaries including the Hamlets of Jarrow, Fabyan, Greenshields and Ribstone.

Do's and Don'ts in a Fire Restriction:

✅ Safe Wood Campfires
✅ Natural Gas/Propane Appliances
✅ Charcoal Briquettes
✅ Open Flame Oil Devices (ie: deep fryer or tiki torch)
✅ Acceptable and Attended Burning Barrels

❌ New or Existing Fire Permits
❌ Fireworks/Exploding Targets
❌ Unattended Fires

Fire Restriction in effect May 4, 2026 for Beaver County including Bruce and Kinsella, Towns of Tofield and Viking, Villages of Ryley and Holden.

Large and small brush piles are now prohibited.

Campfires in approved fire pits with grates are still permitted.

If you had a winter burn piles, please take some time To inspect and prevent flare ups!

-Inspect All Burn Sites: Winter weather can insulate embers and prolong smoldering. Even after months, burn piles can reignite under the right conditions.
-Stir and Soak: Turn the pile over to uncover hidden hotspots, then thoroughly douse it with water. Repeat the process until the ashes are cool to the touch.
-Keep Tools Handy: A rake, shovel, and garden hose are your allies for managing leftover debris and ensuring thorough extinguishment.
-Stay Weather-Aware: Dry, windy spring conditions create a high fire risk. Check forecasts and local fire advisories before starting any new burns.
-Dispose of Remaining Materials: If your burn pile isn’t entirely consumed, consider composting organic matter or hauling it to a local yard waste facility.
