SJ will soon be moving to a new site and WE THINK IT IS IMPORTANT TO TAKE OUR SJ NAME WITH US !! We will now be in the former Burnside Elementary School building…so the name Burnside Education Center was suggested. Those of us for whom SJ has a special place in our hearts would like to take the name with us in some way. SJ is a name that was and is precious to many who have found solace and a place to belong at a time in their lives when they felt like they didn’t fit anywhere. For some, it was a brief sojourn while they sorted out whatever problems made it difficult to be in the mainstream. For others it became home until they graduated or were ready to leave with life skills and self confidence. There is power in a name especially for those students who grew up with little consistency in their lives, always changing homes, schools, friends and foster parents. Knowing that the school is still there, even in name only, is an important touchstone of their past. Former SJ students regularly return to touch base with the significant adults who provided love and guidance during difficult times. We were thinking of perhaps SJ Campus? What are your thoughts about continuing on the SJ legacy? Name suggestions?
