As the holiday season is in full swing, joy, thanksgiving, and almsgiving become a paradigm in the festive hearts of people during this time of year.

This includes AOT, as every year we carefully decide which charity to support. The deciding factor is not by financial or personal means, but by how we can help those in need locally. This year, by majority vote, AOT decided to provide time and financial support to a local non-profit due to ongoing events occurring in Ukraine. After careful consideration, we decided that the Ukrainian Safe Haven was the right non-profit to help at this time.

Joining us via Zoom, the founder of the Ukrainian Safe Haven, Brian Holowaychuk, passionately informed us about the beautiful property located between Langford and Sooke where he and his wife transformed a lodge into a beautiful safe haven for Ukrainian refugees.

Brian was also kind enough to provide a virtual tour for AOT, where he illustrated the facilities and the work they continue to do to support the people living there. The lodge consists mainly of women and their young children.
