When Keisha found her way into her dad’s life, neither could have known just how much love, companionship, and happiness they would share over the years that followed. What began with one small act of choosing an overlooked soul grew into a beautiful life together, filled with quiet routines, cherished moments, and a love that made home feel like home. Keisha was so much more than a beloved cat; she was his loyal little friend, his daily companion, and a very special part of his world. ❤️

Keisha : 2012 ~ September 14, 2026

“You do not adopt a cat; you take it into your home, and wait for the cat to adopt you.”
In 2014 I was visiting the CRD Shelter every couple of weeks, looking to adopt a kitten; but there you were, an abandoned little soul that no one seemed to want, in a kennel in a separate room, and visit after visit I wondered why no one had chosen to take you home.  So I finally decided that maybe I was the one to do that.  As I drove you home that day in July, I couldn’t have had any idea what the future held for us; I could just hope.
And more than twelve years later, I’ve now had to say my final ‘goodbye’ to you, my loving and loyal little friend.  The years that we had together were filled with much love, and so much joy.
It is so strange to not be getting your morning and evening meals for you each day, or watching you enjoying your ‘nightcap’ of Friskies or Temptations before bedtime.  I miss looking out into the back yard and not seeing you out there in any of your favourite places, and the house feels so empty without you here.
But while the pain of loosing you still hurts, you have given me the most precious gifts of all: your unconditional love and companionship over the years we had together, and so many happy memories that will last me a lifetime.
Thank you for being you, Keisha.  God Bless, and rest in eternal peace.”

There was something especially comforting about sweet Marley — a handsome orange tabby with magnificent whiskers who seemed to carry a little bit of sunshine wherever he went☀️. He loved to stretch out in the warmth of the sun, soaking up those golden rays, and he loved nothing more than being close to the people who made his world feel like home. For more than 11 years, Marley was a cherished part of his family’s everyday life, and his gentle presence will leave an unmistakable space behind.

“Marley came into my life more than 11 years ago, he was an indoor and outdoor cat but he always stayed close to home. He loved to lay in the sun in the warmer months, he was a very cuddly boy. We will miss him everyday, life will not be the same without him but we find comfort knowing he had a great life.”

Tux was a bundle of cuteness with the kind of sweet presence that could melt your heart simply by looking at him. He had a special way of making the ordinary feel joyful—whether out enjoying a walk, curled up beside his favourite people, or enthusiastically welcoming them home.

For 14 wonderful years, Tux was a beloved part of his family’s everyday life. There is something so special about the dogs who simply make a home feel happier by being in it, and Tux was clearly one of those very special souls.

He was, in every sense, the very best boy and he will be deeply missed.

“After 14 wonderful years, we said goodbye to our sweet boy, Tux.

Tux was known for his happy sneezes that greeted everyone he loved. He loved his walks, but he was just as happy to spend the day napping beside anyone willing to lie down with him. He truly was the best nap buddy and loved his humans so much. His nickname, Tuxerrrrrr, was always yelled with enthusiasm as soon as anyone came home which made him come running with a wagging tail. He filled our home with so much happiness and love. 

He brought so much fun, companionship, and love to our family over the years, and gave us 14 amazing years of being the very best boy.

We will miss you forever, Tux❤️”

In loving memory of Rex❤️

Rex was gloriously scruffy, endlessly lovable, and full of heart. He was the kind of dog who left a little bit of joy everywhere he went, finding happiness in the simple things—being close to his people, greeting his dog friends on the trail, and giving chase to the rabbits and squirrels who dared cross his path.

For more than 15 years, Rex was a constant and beloved presence in his family’s life. A companion through so many seasons, he became part of the rhythm of their days and the memories that will stay with them forever.

Some dogs are special. And then there are the once-in-a-lifetime dogs—the ones who become woven so deeply into a family that their absence can never quite be filled. Rex was one of those dogs. We were honoured to help him pass peacefully at home, surrounded by the people who loved him so fiercely.

“Rex was a gentle, loving soul who loved nothing more than being around his humans. He had the softest ears, scruffiest face, and a tail that wagged uncontrollably when he bumped into one of his dog friends on the cedar hill wood chip trail. He was a once-in-a-lifetime companion who was with us for more than 15 years and was fiercely loved. We will always miss him. Sleep peacefully, sweet Rex.”

In loving memory of Lois and Smokey❤️

Lois and Smokey had a way of making their presence known. These two beautiful, bonded cats may have ruled their household in their own unmistakable feline ways, but in doing so, they brought so much more: structure, routine, affection, companionship, and all the little rituals that make a house feel like home. They cared for one another, loved their people deeply, and made sure everyone knew when it was time for dinner or a little attention. Their priorities were, of course, perfectly clear.

It is a special honour when a family welcomes us back to help another beloved pet, and even more so when we are entrusted with saying goodbye to both members of such a special pair. We had the honour of helping Lois in 2024, followed by dear Smokey in 2026, and we are grateful to be trusted with these tender final moments.

Lois and Smokey each left their own imprint on the home they so clearly considered theirs - and on the hearts of the people who loved them.

“Lois (calico and white) and Smokey (smoky coloured Persian) from the Victoria SPCA were lovely bonded cats. When we met, Lois let us know as only cats can do, that they should come home with us. When home, they each found their favourite spots and decided the home was theirs. During the years, they cuddled with and took care of each other, gave lots of love and purrs to us, and made sure that we knew when to feed and pet them. They knew their priorities:)

Some dogs become so deeply woven into our lives that it is impossible to imagine the years without them. Lily was one of those extraordinary companions. From the very beginning, she found her place not simply in her family’s home, but in their hearts, becoming a steady and cherished presence through the everyday moments that quietly make up a life together. Her gentle spirit and unmistakable little personality brought warmth wherever she went, and the love she gave so freely will continue to live on in the memories she leaves behind. Lily was deeply loved, and that kind of love leaves a lasting imprint.

“Lily was a tiny 8 week old pup when we got her, gentle and at the same time she knew her one mind -non of this locking her up in a kennel at night, no sir, in bed with Mom and Dad.  Lily was a loving, charming character.  There wasn’t a toddler or child that she didn’t like, allowing even the most enthusiastic child to give her a cuddle.   She was never far from our side, and made sure that we knew the proper time to go for our two daily walks.  She was such a treasure, and will be sorely missed.”

Some bonds are so deep that it is difficult to imagine one without the other.❤️❤️
When Mr. Scruffy was welcomed into his family as a senior, he was meant to be a companion for Jazz, helping ease his anxiety. Instead, the two became inseparable and their friendship carried them through their golden years — sharing a life filled with companionship, comfort, and so much love. Mr. Scruffy defied the odds and stayed for many more years than expected. Perhaps there was something about being so deeply loved — by his family and by Jazz — that made every extra year worth fighting for.
Together, they were deeply woven into the life of their family, sharing in the arrival of a new baby and all the beautiful, ordinary moments of family life.
And in the end, they were still side by side. Two old friends, saying goodbye with their noses touching — a final, profoundly tender moment between two souls who had shared so much of life together.
Jazz and Mr. Scruffy will be missed beyond words, but the love they shared with each other and their family will never leave.

“Jazz was the sweetest and most thoughtful boy. He really was the best bubba ever for almost 15 years.
At the ripe age of 13, we adopted Mr. Scruffy as a companion for Jazz. They became the best of friends; chasing each other, cuddling together and traveling together. He really lived his best second life with us until the age of 18.
They will be deeply missed, forever remembered and infinitely loved.”

Some dogs leave a quiet paw print on our hearts, while others leave a whole trail you could never possibly miss. Baloo was very much the latter. He was a BIG presence in every sense of the word — full of personality, curiosity and a certain unmistakable confidence that made it clear he considered the farm his kingdom and everyone on it part of his world.
He had a particular talent for finding the good things in life: an open field, an inviting pond, an unexpected adventure — and, naturally, any food he had no business eating. Despite his impressive list of allergies, Baloo remained thoroughly convinced that whatever was on someone else’s plate was worth negotiating for.
It was impossible not to be captivated by a dog who lived life so fully. Baloo brought joy, mischief and plenty of personality to the people and place he called home, and his absence will undoubtedly be felt in all the familiar corners of his kingdom.

“Baloo was a special dog, exuberant, friendly and almost always up for an adventure. He loved swimming, running through fields and mountains and if given the chance he would most definitely find the nearest body of water or swamp for a quick dip. Allergic to almost everything, he could smell a burger, some juicy chicken or a steak from a mile away and would try so hard to convince you (and himself) he could have just one bite (more like the whole thing). He is deeply missed and we all will cherish the time we had with him whether it was one of our many adventures, hanging out on the couch or him just being our lookout on the farm.”

Some dogs have a way of becoming the heart of an entire community, and Sophie was one of those very special little souls.
For many years, she was the beloved centre of her family’s world, cherished by the sweetest couple who adored her completely. But her circle of love reached even further. She was known and loved throughout her floor, where neighbours would regularly have special treats waiting for her when they knew it was time for her walk. Sophie had clearly made herself at home in the hearts of so many people simply by being her wonderfully sweet, unmistakably terrier self.

It was such a privilege to be welcomed into her home and to witness the extraordinary love surrounding this little girl as her family said goodbye.
Sophie was surrounded by love throughout her life, and in her final moments, that same love was there holding her close. What a beautiful gift it is to know just how deeply a little dog can matter — to the people who call her family, and to an entire community who had come to love her along the way. 🤍

“Sophie

Sophie was our sweetheart - a beautiful little Cairn Terrier who happily gave us love, laughs and joy for many years. She loved squeaky toys and treats, hated garbage trucks and bagpipes and was the best friend of most everyone she met.  We are left bereft but with wonderful memories and a terrier-shaped hole in our hearts.”

“Bailey had a tough start in life. She was rescued as a puppy from a wild-dog pack in Alberta, where she was the lowest on the food chain and was being starved out. Nate swooped in and adopted Bailey, saving her life and giving her a second chance.
Over the years, their bond grew stronger, and they became the very best of friends. When Nate met Kali, she and Bailey instantly hit it off, and the three of them became a family.
Together, they spent their years enjoying everything the outdoors had to offer—camping, hiking, swimming, and making countless memories along the way.
Bailey was deeply loved, and that love will live on forever in all the beautiful moments they shared together. Her memory will always be a part of their family, carried forward in every adventure, every quiet moment, and every good memory of the life they built together.”
