Some bonds begin in childhood and become a part of us forever. Theo came into her life when she was just five years old, and for so many years they grew up side by side. A gentle, loving boy with a wonderfully curious personality, he could often be found watching the guinea pigs or lovingly getting involved in craft time, with pipe cleaners and pom poms among his favourite things to play with. Theo was there for so many chapters, bringing comfort, companionship, and countless little moments of joy along the way. He was deeply loved, and he will be missed for a lifetime.

“Theo was with me through every chapter of my life, from kindergarten to university. He was the perfect kitty for two little girls and was always by our side as we grew up. Theo had the gentlest, sweetest soul. He loved everyone he met and had a way of winning over even the biggest “dog people.” He always wanted to be near the people he loved. We will carry you in our hearts forever, Theo.”

Sensa was the kind of girl who made herself completely at home in your heart. With her sweet nature, unmistakable bulldog charm, and a life filled with love, good cheese, and road trip adventures, she brought so much joy to her dads who completely adored her. She was deeply cherished, endlessly spoiled, and clearly knew exactly where she belonged — right by their side. After more than 13 wonderful years together, Sensa leaves behind a lifetime of treasured memories and a very big place in the hearts of the people who loved her most.

“For over 13 years, Sensa gave us unconditional love that we tried to return. She was the ultimate bed hog, always ready for a belly rub or a butt scratch, and never turned down cheese or a bite of hamburger. Weekends at the cottage and the beach were her favorite. She was quite the traveler too, having joined us across 8 provinces and beyond. Her final year was full of travels, lots of cheese, and lots of cuddles. We’re going to miss the sound of her panting and her smell close by. It is still hard to accept she is no longer with us, but she will be remembered forever, and we cherish the memories we have of her. To our Piggly Wiggly, your Papa and Daddy are grateful to have had you in our lives. Rest in peace, Boo Boo.”

Tank was a truly special big guy, and it was so clear just how deeply he was loved. Nearly 15 people gathered around in his home to say goodbye, surrounding him with love and familiar faces right to the very end. There is something so profound about the bond we share with our dogs — they become woven into the fabric of our lives, our homes, and our hearts in ways that are impossible to replace. Tank was clearly one of those once-in-a-lifetime dogs who left paw prints on many, many hearts.

The sweetest girl, Layla, was a beautiful soul who brought so much love and light wherever she went. For 16½ years, she filled her family’s world with her gentle presence, playful spirit, and wonderfully quirky personality. From making friends with everyone she met to keeping a watchful eye out for little lizards basking in the sun, Layla found joy in the simplest things.
And even at the very end, she was ready for one more adventure.

Even on her last day, she still wanted to run. Now she is free to do just that.

His family will miss him tremendously, but there is some comfort in knowing that somewhere beyond this goodbye, Sammy has found his way back to his beloved “brother” Fergus.❤️

“Sammy, the little powerhouse dog with a bark that could wake the neighborhood.  He was my hiking buddy; our last big hike was Sugarloaf and he had no fear going up the steep sections of the trail to the summit.  He brought joy and laughter to our family with his bouncy excitement, wiggly little nub of a tail and a huge smile.  We will miss him tremendously, but we know he has been reunited with Fergus, and that brings us peace.  Love you Sammy!”

Her joyful spirit, endless affection, and larger-than-life personality made her impossible not to love. But what stood out most was the beautiful bond she shared with her family - a connection built on unwavering love, trust, and years of cherished memories.
It was a true honour to help Sweetie pass peacefully at home, surrounded by the people who love her most. She was so deeply relaxed and comfortable that she drifted off with the sweetest little lip smacks and a symphony of snores - a quiet reminder of just how safe, loved, and at peace she felt in her family’s embrace. Thank you to Sweetie’s family for allowing us to be part of such a meaningful farewell and for sharing these beautiful words in her memory.

Sweetie follows her canine companions Biggie and Murphy over the rainbow bridge. Sweetie will be forever loved and missed by her friends and family.

We’re so grateful to welcome Dr. Megan to our growing team. 🩺❤️
Many of you may already recognize her from her work as a general practice veterinarian here on Vancouver Island, where she’s had the privilege of caring for countless beloved pets and the families who love them. Throughout her career, one thing has remained constant: a deep appreciation for the meaningful bond shared between people and their furry family members.

Dr. Megan brings not only exceptional medical knowledge, but also genuine compassion, kindness, and a calm presence - qualities that make such a difference during life’s most difficult goodbyes. We know she’ll provide the same gentle, heartfelt care that Resting Paws is known for.❤️‍🩹

When she’s not caring for patients, you’ll likely find her exploring the island, paddle boarding, or - fun fact - reminiscing about her days representing Team Canada in baton twirling, even competing at the World Championships in the Netherlands in 2018! 🇨🇦

Deeply loved by her family, cherished by her dog sisters, and woven into the fabric of everyday life, sweet Kaiah brought unwavering love, comfort, and companionship to those fortunate enough to know her. Saying goodbye is never easy, but one of the greatest acts of love is knowing when to let go with grace. Kaiah’s final moments were peaceful and surrounded by the love she had given so freely throughout her life. Her memory will forever be one of joy, devotion, and a heart that was truly one of a kind.
