I had no idea how difficult it was actually going to be. 8 months of sleeping in stretches of 20 to 30 minutes at a time.

Plus a spur of the moment decision to move to Mexico for a year because we figured life would be cheaper. (We only lasted 4 months)

I am grateful for this year. Although it has put me through the ringer, it has taught me alot about myself and about life in general. I have experienced ups and downs but nothing can compare to the feeling of fatherhood!

I couldn't imagine a life working out of town in a camp for weeks on end and watching them grow through a screen because I was not around.

Too many of us work so hard to provide an education fund for our kids when they grow up

But the problem is that one day we wake up and they have grown up and we realize we missed it.

Don't waste that precious time.

You only get it once.

Most would agree that the decision to make in this situation would be freedom. Yet most of us are faced with this situation every day of our lives.

We go to a job where we are paid just enough to get by, but designed to keep us trapped for life.

This gives us the illusion of freedom, but if we were free, we wouldn't have to ask permission for a day off, ask permission for a few hours for important things, or have to explain ourselves if we do anything out of the normal, we even need to ask for a day off for the death of a friend or family member.

We decide that the safe secure paycheck is the better option because if we escape, then we have to find our own way, find our own income, find our own freedom.

Then on top of this, the government contributes to people living in the streets by giving them free (now legal) drugs, free food, free shelter, buy them phones, etc etc.

This adds to the illusion that if we are without a J.O.B. (Just Over Broke) then we will end up on the streets as well.

It is all designed to keep us as enslaved. With only an illusion of freedom.

So many people try to go for the key to freedom only to give up too soon, then they go back to the bread and call the key too good to be true or a scam etc....

Yet while others go for the key, struggling for a time, then they find true success and true freedom. Time freedom, money freedom and location freedom.

If it is possible for one person, it is possible for everyone.
Don't settle for a piece of bread...

Have you ever been somewhere that was so amazing you never wanted to leave? A true paradise?

The dive shop in the Maldives even offered me a job because I can speak English and Spanish.

One of the workers said he hated it there. All he seen was 🐢 turtles and dolphins 🐬 all day. How boring... I would have traded places with him in a second from the life of a carpenter!

I guess that goes to show that any job can get old!

Family is my utmost priority.

My aim was never to live without the things I missed out on during my childhood.

I found myself caught in a cycle, working 70+ hours per week, constantly pushing myself to the point of burnout. This was my normal for two decades.

All of it was in pursuit of a few precious days off, hoping to enjoy and spend the hard-earned money I accumulated.

Now, as a parent, it's my duty to ensure my children never face financial struggles. I'm committed to providing for them in every possible way. All the things I couldn't have growing up, I want to give to them AND be around to enjoy it with them!

Sometimes the only good things you hear about you, are the things you say to you.

Sometimes all you hear is negative things about you from all those around you.

Sometimes even from the ones who you know have your best interests at heart

From those people, it is not always intentional. They just don't see everything that is going on at a level that only you can truly understand.

Until one day when you can show them all what it is that you were doing. Then they will understand and thank you for never giving up.

Nothing changes if nothing changes.

We can spend our lives sleeping in and wondering "what if?".

"What if" will never come if we only keep thinking about it. We need to take action and make it happen.

Most of us don't want to make that change cause it will cause pain.

When we change our address it causes the pain of moving. When we change jobs, it causes pain. When we change relationships, it causes pain.

So when we look at the pain that will be caused by getting up earlier, exercising more, doing more s**t we don't want to do, instead of the things that bring us joy, we tend to do the things that will bring us the most pleasure to avoid the potential pain.

But what will bring us the greatest pleasure, usually comes from pushing through the pain.

At the end of our lives when we look back, what we will regret were the things we didnt do, not the mistakes we made doing the things we did do!

Week 2 done at the gym!

As a beginner, there are 2 ways to look at things.

I can focus on how much everyone else can lift and compare myself to them...

OR

I can focus on what I could do yesterday and improve on that!

What matters is that every day, I show up as the best version of myself and improve on yesterday 💪💪

This goes the same no matter what I am doing. Whether it is business or personal. If we can improve by 1% every day the compounded effect on that is massive over time!

If you believe it, you can achieve it! As long as you put the work in!

But it wont just happen if we dont make it happen. If you want something take it, work for it, dont give up until it is yours!

Discipline is key. Doing the small things every day that will propel towards that achievement! The ability to do all the things we dont want to do!

Expectations cannot exceed the effort! Shooting for the ceiling and expecting to reach the stars is never going to happen!

Never wish for it more than you work for it! Dreaming about something but doing nothing that will get you closer to your dreams is never going to change anything! So many of us try a little and quit, then say it doesnt work!

REFUSE to be denied no matter how many times rejected.

Do or die, sink or swim. The inspiration that will arise from the desperation will far exceed just looking in from the sidelines wondering if I can!

Life goes by in a flicker. Live with a sense of urgency!
Be in a hurry! Working too slow, too casual, or thinking too much will never get the job done!

What is my legacy?
When life is over and looking back, I dont want to say I never gave it everything I had!

As an employee, most of the people use each other as stepping stones, doing whatever it takes to get ahead. No matter how many people they trample along the way. A cycle of throwing others under the bus and most won't even take responsibility for their own errors.

As an entrepreneur, surrounding yourself with other successful entrepreneurs, most people pride themselves to elevate those around them and lift them up as high and higher.

Would you rather surround yourself with people who are lifting you up or bringing you down with them?

Like attracts like. If you want to fly with the eagles don't swim with the ducks!
