Right to Play is an organization which is run and created by Johann Olav Koss in 2000. Since 2000, Right to Play has raised money and taken action by helping individuals in countries affected by war, poverty and disease who don’t have the luxury of being active and playing games. Right to Play uses its staff of almost 17,000 workers and volunteers to organize fundraisers and travel to these commun
ities to develop programs which give children the opportunity to play while learning about helpful life and health skills, so they may live a better, healthier everyday life, promote less violence and have a brighter future. Right to Play also offers training to teachers in local schools who may then implement their programs in their curriculum, and also offers and teaches leadership opportunities and skills. Right to Play gains its revenue from many different sources, including the government, through fundraising and awareness events, individual and corporation donations, donations from foundations and also just donations in-kind. You can also assist by applying for a volunteer opportunity under the volunteer section of the website, and help out with things such as 50/50 ticket sales, Fundraisers and Awareness Events, or be placed in a project such as the Sport for Development, International Development, Power of Play and Aboriginal Affairs development programs. Right to Play is an established organization that has proven results, makes a significant impact for a very worthy cause and is very successful and constantly growing, as it is active in over 20 countries including; Benin, Burundi, Canada, China, Ethiopia, Ghana, Jordan, Lebanon, Liberia, Mali, Mozambique, Pakistan, the Palestinian Territories (West Bank and Gaza), Panama, Rwanda, Tanzania, Thailand and Uganda.
