deCERCA, based in San José, Costa Rica, returns to as part of the 'Arte Sur' program.
The gallery brings two generations of Costa Rican painting to Arte Sur: Nadya M. Aguilar's large-scale canvases of vibrant stripes and concentric forms, and Gerardo Ramírez's quiet, precisely observed still lifes. The pairing contrasts bold expression with restraint, and abstraction with observation, from a scene rarely seen on the international fair circuit.

Fazakas Gallery returns to Art Toronto with a captivating presentation of works by Audie Murray, featured in the fair’s Solo Section.
Murray redefines contemporary Indigenous art through her deeply personal and transformative approach to materials. Her practice incorporates elements connected to the body, land, animals, and everyday life, such as rose petals, smoke ash, bison bone, bear grease, to***co, matchsticks, and even her own breast milk, turning them into pigments and artistic media.
At Art Toronto, Murray’s installation Rootless will feature approximately 100 sheets of artificial grass adorned with 4 dozen roses that will naturally decay throughout the fair. Rather than viewing decay as an end, Murray will collect the roses and transform them into pigment, extending their life into new works. A drawing made with rose pigment from Rootless’ previous iteration will be displayed alongside the installation.
Through processes of decay, transformation, and renewal, Murray challenges conventional notions of medium, permanence, and the boundaries of Indigenous art, inviting us to reconsider the traces of life embedded in her materials.
