New music alert! šŸ’æā€¼ļøšŸšØ

Curtains of Light, the new record from Toronto jazz singer-songwriter Whitney Ross-Barris, blends jazz, choral, neo-soul, spoken word, and folk elements into an album of exciting new music that crystallizes deeply human stories of disconnection, longing, and beautiful resilience born from the last few challenging years.

Woven together with field recordings from Whitney’s daily life and featuring both in-the-pocket groove and sweeping cinematic arrangements by award-winning multi-instrumentalists Michael Shand and Drew Jurecka, Curtains of Light offers striking sonic variety from beginning to end.

From the buoyant energy of Bourgeois Reverie and the unapologetic groove of Bird of Paradise, to the soulful yearning of If I Were You and the winter winds and Northern Lights evoked by Jurecka’s strings in Curtains of Light, every track invites us to reconsider the meaning of connection, community, love, and home – and what happens to us when they are suddenly out of reach.

New music coming October 10th! šŸŽ¹šŸŽ‰

Celebrated MontrƩal-based jazz pianist and composer Kate Wyatt returns with her electrifying new album Murmurations, a shimmering testament to group empathy and musical dialogue. Joined by MontrƩal jazz heavyweights Adrian Vedady on bass and Louis-Vincent Hamel on drums, the Kate Wyatt Trio delivers a collection of original compositions by each member, weaving together sensitivity, spontaneity, and a nearly telepathic interplay.

The concept of Murmurations – inspired by nature’s spectacle of birds moving in unison – perfectly captures the essence of this album. Just as flocks of starlings shift and turn as one, the trio moves and breathes as a single organism: responsive, trusting, and deeply attuned to the moment.

Renowned for her creative imagination and finesse, Paul de Hueck and Norman Walford Career Achievement Award nominee Kate Wyatt has earned a reputation as one of Canada’s most compelling jazz voices. Her debut album Artifact received glowing reviews and was featured on a number of Best Jazz of 2022 lists internationally. On Murmurations, Wyatt’s dynamic compositions are joined by those of Vedady and Hamel, each bringing unique textures and perspectives to the trio’s collective sound. The album also features a fresh, surprising take on the Kurt Weill standard Mack the Knife, highlighting the group’s playful side and inventive spirit.

Murmurations will be released on October 10, 2025 on all major streaming platforms and in physical formats. The trio will be touring across Canada in support of the album, bringing their uniquely interactive and sensitive sound to audiences nationwide.

New music alert! šŸšØšŸŽ‰

With Take It to the Sky, producer Michael Simard delivers a vibrant, full-throttle celebration of the music that has inspired him for a lifetime.

Backed by a powerhouse 21-piece ensemble, the album reimagines classics by Earth, Wind & Fire, George Duke, The Crusaders, and Eumir Deodato with fresh arrangements, lush horn and string sections, and an irresistible sense of groove.

It’s a project years in the making — a joyful revival of the jazz-funk and soul sounds that fueled Simard’s creativity from his earliest days.

The recording took place over four days in December at Vancouver’s Monarch and Hipposonic Studios. Guided by arranger and producer Bill Runge and contractor John Korsrud, the all-star lineup included some of Canada’s finest jazz musicians, among them Brad Turner, AndrĆ© Lachance, and Randall Stoll, with standout vocal turns from Rebecca Shoichet and Marcus Mosely. Simard’s vision was clear: revive the spirit of these timeless tracks, but do it bigger — with real strings where there were once synthesizers, a full horn section bringing extra punch, and arrangements that breathe new life into every note.

For Simard, Take It to the Sky is more than just an album; it’s a celebration of achievement, collaboration, and the enduring power of music. Funded entirely through his own entrepreneurial and investment success, the project reflects a lifelong commitment to the arts and a deep respect for the musicians who bring these arrangements to life.

Dynamic, polished, and overflowing with heart, Take It to the Sky is a love letter to the jazz-funk greats and a testament to what can happen when passion, vision, and artistry converge in the studio. Whether you’re a devoted jazz listener or a newcomer to this timeless sound, Simard’s debut promises to move your feet and lift your spirits.
