How can churches and the ecumenical movement more broadly use AI responsibly? It's important to ask digital justice questions – about ownership, control, power, accountability. And churches need to be a part of the conversation. Thoughts from our Berlin seminar partner Evangelische Mission Weltweit ⬇️

🤖🌍 Wie gehen Kirche und Ökumene verantwortungsvoll mit Künstlicher Intelligenz um?

Diese Frage stand im Mittelpunkt der Ökumene-Konferenz der Nordkirche in Hamburg unter dem Titel „Algorithmus der (Un-)Gerechtigkeit? – Herausforderungen und Chancen von Künstlicher Intelligenz für die Kirche und den Hauptbereich Mission und Ökumene“.

Am zweiten Konferenztag diskutierte EMW-Referentin Corinna Waltz gemeinsam mit Christian Wollmann, Direktor des Ökumenewerk der Nordkirche, über KI in der kirchlichen Arbeit, digitale Gerechtigkeit und die Verantwortung von Kirche im digitalen Wandel. Die Fishbowl-Diskussion wurde auch durch Fragen und Impulse aus dem Plenum bereichert – auf dem Foto: Hauke Christiansen aus dem Organisationsteam der Konferenz.

Dabei kamen auch die Impulse aus den Vorträgen von Sara Speicher (WACC - Global) und Dimah Ahmad (TU Braunschweig) vom Vortag nochmal zur Sprache und wurden weiter reflektiert.

Im Austausch wurde deutlich: KI ist längst Teil unseres Alltags – umso wichtiger sind kritische Fragen nach Teilhabe, Gerechtigkeit, Macht und ethischer Verantwortung. Kirche kann und sollte diese Debatten aktiv mitgestalten.
