The strength of Wellspring lies not only in our evidence-based programs, but in the power of the Wellspring network.

While attending the Canadian Association of Psychosocial Oncology (CAPO) conference this week in St. John’s Newfoundland, Wellspring leaders from across the country had the opportunity to connect and learn together.

Pictured are Amanda Smart and Judi Perry Brinkert from Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation (middle), alongside Niki Fehr, Program Director at Wellspring Alberta, and Jacqueline Bloom, Director of Wellspring New Brunswick.

By working collaboratively, we are able to share expertise, translate research into practice, and bring high-quality, evidence-based cancer support programs to more people and communities across Canada.

This session blends pain neuroscience with accessible tools you can use in daily life. We’ll cover gentle movement approaches that retrain the brain body connection, ways to reduce sensitivity in the nervous system, and techniques that help you navigate flare ups with more confidence and less fear. You’ll learn how stress, sleep, pacing, and mindset influence pain—and how small, consistent adjustments can create meaningful shifts. 🎗️

This week, Wellspring was proud to present two initiatives at the annual conference of the Canadian Association of Psychosocial Oncology (CAPO), one of Canada’s leading forums for advancing supportive cancer care.

Our Chief Mission Officer, Amanda Smart, shared how Fear of Recurrence Therapy (FORT) is helping cancer survivors build confidence and manage fear and uncertainty after treatment. In the second photo, Amanda is pictured with Dr. Sophie Lebel and fellow symposium presenters.

Former Chief Mission Officer, Judi Perry Brinkert, co-presented a collaborative project adapting Wellspring's Nourish program to better support Inuit cancer patients and their families through culturally relevant nutrition and supportive care.

These presentations highlight Wellspring's commitment to evidence-based programming, collaboration, and improving cancer care across Canada. 🍁

A new season. A new chapter. Help someone facing cancer feel supported this spring.

Right now, you have a unique opportunity to double your impact.

For a limited time, your donation will be matched dollar for dollar thanks to the generosity of Matt Barasch, Wellspring’s Board Chair. 💚

For Matt, that experience is deeply personal. Diagnosed with lymphoma in his 30s and later facing a recurrence while raising two young children, he understands firsthand how overwhelming the emotional and mental toll of cancer can be.

“Medicine saved my life,” he shares. “But I learned that healing is about so much more than treatment.”

That’s where Wellspring comes in.

Donate today and provide even more essential support for Canadians affected by cancer: give.wellspring.ca/spring
