Lunar new year is coming!
Lunar new year this year is Friday, Feb 12th. Korea also celebrates lunar new year✨ It’s one of our biggest holidays when all family member gather and wish good luck to each other.
During lunar new year, Koreans like to have Ddeokguk(Rice cake soup) for wishing health and wealth. We cut the rice cake in to small pieces, but it is originally one whole long piece to represent longevity, the white colour means fresh start.
I know it’s February but following lunar new year, I wish all the best to you 2021❤️

Here are things that I got culture shock from between Toronto and Seoul, Korea.
1] No service and internet in subway.
When I arrived in Toronto 2016, I literally got shocked that I couldn’t use my phone in a subway but a good thing about this is that I could enjoy seeing peoples busy life, small talks and the view outside the window.
2] People holding doors open for me.
It’s not common that people hold doors for next one in Korea and I loved the friendly gesture that Torontonians have☺️
3] How are you?
In Korea, we only ask how you are among family, friends or acquaintances. So I was confused if I really needed to say how I am or not to the person who I met for the first time.
Of course now I’m more comfortable living in Toronto but definitely there was some struggles when I came first time. I wonder any of you have felt culture shock with foreign culture. If you have, I would love to hear it🥰

How was your Thursday?
It was such a long day for me. I did a shoot today afternoon for uploading new content but I didn’t like it all🥲 So I went to Walmart and grabbed some sweets to feel better. And it worked, Smile with two-bite brownie❤️

My desk situation✨
I spend a lot of times at my desk aka the dining table lol. I love to use technology but I still love to write in my dairy.
I write down my long term plans, my wish, family and friend’s birthday and how my day was.
Now I can’t live without internet and my phone but at the same time I miss the old days when I needed to remember my best friend’s home phone number and homework report was done using pen paper.

Crispy and sweet fried chicken. Their fried chicken is known for using olive oil. I usually order half golden fried and half secret spicy. Cheese balls are good too✨

Invest on your skin
My skin is not perfect and will never be perfect but I’m okay with that. I had a lot of pimples when I was in my teens. That was one of my biggest stress. As many people might already know, Korean beauty standard is very high so it gave me less confidence about my look and skin. After moving to Canada and getting older, my stress level is way better than before but I still have concerns about scars and red spots from acne on my face.
I always envy people who naturally are born with good skin so I went through lot of laser treatment, medications and cosmetics. Thus, I know how hard it is to achieve smooth and healthy skin. I can’t be sure that my recommendation will make your skin perfect or better but I still want to share what I like and want to sell the products that I think are good because I know lots of women have their own skin concerns and want to have healthier skin.
Since I put extra effort and take care of my skin, I’m sure that my skin condition is overall better than before.(of course, skin gets aged and wrinkled, this is inevitable😭) We all know that there’s no skin care product that make dramatic changes from day one but I keep trying because eventually, little by little, it will change for the better in the end✨ If you like my thoughts, please join and support to BKD’s journey and pick✌🏻

Skin care tips
1] Don’t use towels to dry your face!
This skin care tip is from my mom and it works nicely for me. I used to have skin rash around my chin and cheeks and it made my face itchy more after washing my face. I told this to my mom and she told me not to use towel on my face. What I do is washing my face and putting on skin toner on my watery face right away and cleaning and drying the sink because I always made big mess(my boyfriend called this Tsunami) while my face gets dry bit, then applying skin care masks or serums. I haven’t used towels on my face for more than 1 year. I still sometimes have pimples when my period comes but definitely unknown skin rash is gone. I actually heard that towels are quite dusty so try this if you have sensitive skin. This tips are helpful too if your skin is dry.
2] Make sure your pillow cases clean.
I wash my pillow cases very often. While you are sleeping, your sweat, your hair and cosmetics that you applied all goes to your pillow case. Clean environment is the easiest and fastest way to make your skin healthy❤️
