Not every coffee needs a purpose. Some are for catching up…. some for slowing down…. or simply a wee excuse to stay a little longer.

The best conversations rarely begin with anything important. They begin with, “sure, have ye got time for one more?”

pride has always belonged in places where people can be themselves.

the conversations that start quietly… the friendships that grow over time. the courage it takes to show up as who you are, and the comfort of knowing you don’t have to explain yourself.

we’ve always believed coffee is only part of the story.

what matters are the people around the table; the laughter by the window, the ideas shared between strangers, and the feeling that for a wee while, you’ve found somewhere you belong.

this month, and every month, we’re proud to be a small part of a community built on authenticity, resilience, love, and connection.

a bit of craic and a whole lot of pride.

🏳️‍🌈

come as you are. stay as long as ye want.

If love is a spectrum and coffee is a spectrum, then baby… you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be.

At oliver, we’ve never been interested in creating a place where everyone is the same…. We’re interested in creating a place where everyone belongs.

The author writing a first draft.
The neighbour reading quietly by the window.
The couple on a first date.
The friends solving the world’s problems over a second coffee.
The person still figuring things out.

Especially that last one.

Pride is a celebration. It is also a reminder that not everyone is able to live openly, safely, or fully as themselves.

So whether you’re loud or quiet, out or not yet out, questioning, certain, celebrating, grieving, or simply looking for a place to sit for a while…

you’re welcome here.

take up space.
sip slowly.

you’re safe here. 🌈☕

pride at oliver.

this month… we celebrate.

we celebrate the courage it takes to be yourself in a world that has not always made that easy.

we remember those who came before us. The people who spoke up, showed up, and created space for others when doing so came with real risk.

we acknowledge that while much has changed, not everyone has the same freedom to live openly and safely. There are still barriers. There are still struggles. There are still people who cannot, or do not yet feel able to, come out.

to those people, we see you too.

at oliver, we believe good rooms matter. Rooms where people can arrive as they are. Rooms where conversations happen. Where differences are welcomed. Where nobody has to perform, explain, or hide to belong.

whether you’re celebrating proudly, supporting someone you love, questioning, exploring, remembering, or simply looking for a place to sit with a coffee and be yourself, you’re welcome here.

always.

We spend a lot of time talking about coffee, but what we’re really interested in is what happens around it.

Sometimes people see things from the other side of the bar that we don’t always see ourselves. We try to create and hold the room.

Today, Erica shared this reflection after sitting on our patio and having a moment with her father over coffee.

What struck me wasn’t just the beauty of the writing, and how it moved me; it was also the realization at the centre of it.

When oliver was being imagined, the goal was never simply to serve coffee. The main goal was to create a room. Just like my sister and I used to do growing up…A room where conversations could happen… where people could linger and where stories could be told. A room where people felt safe enough to be themselves.

The kind of room that modern life seems to leave less and less space for.

Reading Erica’s words today felt like a reminder that these small moments matter. That a conversation over coffee can still be meaningful. That people can still meet each other with honesty, vulnerability, compassion and curiosity. That’s the essence of oliver.

We do spend a lot of time talking about coffee, but like I said, what we’re really interested in is what happens around it.

The conversations…. The connections… and the relationships that quietly grow over time.

To Erica, thank you for taking the time to notice. And thank you for sharing something so thoughtful and generous.

The quiet rebellion begins in small rooms.
