Friday night at Toronto the Good 2025 🌆

I had the opportunity to exhibit with .lab at Old City Hall as part of FutureFront: an installation exploring how art can shape the cities of tomorrow.

My featured work was a large-scale untitled self-portrait, created entirely from hand-stamped binary code (ones and zeros) to form my face. I was reflecting on the ways identity, nature, and technology overlap, and how the human touch remains visible even within digital systems.

Mayor Olivia Chow spoke about the city’s cultural spaces — their significance, resilience, and the possibilities they hold for the future. A timely reminder that heritage sites like Old City Hall carry so much potential for new forms of engagement and cultural life.

September 🫶🏽

October is Latin American Heritage Month—and coincidetally also my birthday month. I never really post about these things but as I step into the last year of my twenties (🥲), I have an eager desire to reclaim my roots and connection to where I come from.

Like many of us, I live in the “in-between”—ni de aquí, ni de allá— space, seeing this part of my identity as both a limitation and a superpower. I think about how little I know about both my Venezuelan and Canadian heritage. More and more I’ve come to realize: we can and do belong to both. When we choose to show up for one another, to share our gifts, and to honour our stories, we strengthen every community we touch.

This is a portrait of baby Oliviana—bright, curious, and full of life! I aspire to keep protecting her, to live with that same wonder, and to carry forward the history she was born into.

To my Latin community: I love you, I see you, and I thank you for making Toronto a home. My commitment is to do the work, to keep learning, and to share our stories with the world 🤍

A little while ago I convinced .jamar to help me document building a kite from scratch. Spoiler alert—it did not fly and he’ll never let me live it down 🤦🏽‍♀️

But I was thinking about childhood amesia and the way we remember things. Like how places, objects and experiences feel much smaller when you revisit them as an adult. There’s this weird kind of wistful longing tied to transitional, inbetween spaces and times (like being a kid in awe of ordinary places).

I could have sworn my instincts would have permitted me to build a perfectly flyable instrument. But maybe the point was never to fly, just to try. There’s something beautiful about returning to these forgotten corners of yourself. The parts that are free and believe anything is possible, even with crooked wings. 🪁

I hope you go out there and bring your ideas to life no matter how big or small!
