Cockroach Theory
The cockroach theory for self-development
At a restaurant, a cockroach suddenly flew from somewhere and sat on a lady.
She started screaming out of fear.
With a panic-stricken face and trembling voice, she started jumping, with both her hands desperately trying to get rid of the cockroach.
Her reaction was contagious, as everyone in her group also got panicky.
The lady finally managed to push the cockroach away but ...it landed on another lady in the group.
Now, it was the turn of the other lady in the group to continue the drama.
The waiter rushed forward to their rescue.
In the relay of throwing, the cockroach next fell upon the waiter.
The waiter stood firm, composed himself and observed the behaviour of the cockroach on his shirt.
When he was confident enough, he grabbed it with his fingers and threw it out of the restaurant.
Sipping my coffee and watching the amusement, the antenna of my mind picked up a few thoughts and started wondering, was the cockroach responsible for their histrionic behaviour?
If so, then why was the waiter not disturbed?
He handled it near to perfection, without any chaos.
It is not the cockroach, but the inability of those people to handle the disturbance caused by the cockroach, that disturbed the ladies.
I realized that it is not the shouting of my father or my boss or my wife that disturbs me, but it's my inability to handle the disturbances caused by their shouting that disturbs me.
It's not the traffic jams on the road that disturbs me, but my inability to handle the disturbance caused by the traffic jam that disturbs me.
More than the problem, it's my reaction to the problem that creates chaos in my life.
Lessons learnt from the story:
I understood I should not react in life.
I should always respond.
The women reacted, whereas the waiter responded.
Reactions are always instinctive whereas responses are always well thought of.
A beautiful way to understand
LIFE.
The HAPPY person is not because Everything is RIGHT in his Life.
He is HAPPY because his Attitude towards Everything in his Life is Right!

A violinist played for 45 minutes in a New York subway. A handful of people stopped, a couple clapped, and the violinist managed to raise about $30 in tips.
No one knew this, but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the best musicians in the world. In that subway, Joshua played one of the most intricate pieces ever written with a violin worth 3.5 million dollars.
Two days before he played in the subway, Joshua Bell sold out a theater in Boston and the seats averaged about $100.
The experiment proved that the extraordinary in an ordinary environment does not shine and is so often overlooked and undervalued.
There are brilliantly talented people everywhere who aren’t receiving the recognition and reward they deserve. But once they arm themselves with value and confidence and remove themselves from an environment that isn’t serving them, they thrive and grow.
Your gut is telling you something. Listen to it if it’s telling you that where you are isn’t enough!
Go where you are appreciated and valued.
Know Your Worth.

When things strike a nerve in us, we need to stop and ask ourselves why…
Maybe it’s something that goes against your values or maybe it’s something you see in yourself that you dislike. Getting to know yourself and what makes you tick can help you when you feel upset about something. It helps you understand the why and from there, you can determine what you can do to let it go and be at peace with it or how you are going to handle the situation to get what you want.

When things happen that we can’t control, we can learn to let it go and find calmness in what is happening.
If someone else has an issue, it’s not your responsibility to take it on as your own - chances are that person doesn’t want you to anyways. Remember, it’s their life journey, not yours and they can navigate it the way they want to, just like you have the freedom to do what you choose. You may not agree with things, but that’s ok, you don’t have to. You can be there for that person and also be free from the guilt, pain, and any other emotions that come up when you think about what’s happening in their life.
You can learn to work your way through what is happening and find ways to move forward in peace.

Let’s get real for a minute…
What is something that is bothering you that you can’t seem to get passed?
There are many things that can bother us throughout our lives that can keep us in a state of frustration, anger, sadness, etc. Maybe it’s a family member or someone close to you that gets under your skin, someone you know that continues to have the same reoccuring issues or maybe its work related. Whatever the reason, write something in the comments below or message me… I’d be interested in knowing some of the struggles you are facing.
One of mine is a close family member. I love them to death but sometimes they get under my skin. Some days it feels like I can’t do anything right when I’m with them, as they know how to push my buttons. It’s hard because this is someone that is important to me and I want them in my life, so distancing them is something I’m not prepared to do.

🎼 Gunnarolla - I Took A Nap
☀️☀️☀️
Sometimes all we want is to take a little nap.
A short nap of 20 to 30 minutes can offer you many benefits from relaxation, giving your body some time to recharge and feel rejuvenated, can improve mood and sharpen your focus. However, naps longer than 30 minutes can lead to grogginess and nighttime sleep problems.
While they can be a good thing, feeling the need to nap everyday may be a sign of a deeper problem. You may want to ask yourself, “Why do I feel the need to nap daily?” Do you feel the world is too much to handle, could it be an underlying health problem, maybe your sleep pattern is not the best? Whatever the reason, you can gain some clarity around what may be happening and take action. Napping should be a joyful little pick me up instead of a feeling of you have to because you can’t function without one.

Meditation
When we quiet the mind and enter a state of calmness, we can focus our thoughts on whatever it is we want.
Get comfortable and pay attention to your breath as it goes in and out and notice when your mind starts wandering. If you start to lose your concentration, come back and focus on your breathing again. Try and stay in the present moment for as long as you desire and stay connected to the purpose of your meditation. Clear any judgements and stay kind to yourself.
If you’re new to meditating, try doing it for 5 minutes and increase the time when you’re ready.
The primary goal should not be to just quiet the mind, your mind will quiet once you start to center your attention.

Check in with yourself…
Stop yourself once in a while to see how you’re doing, your emotions, thoughts and actions. This can be helpful at anytime of the day and lets us see if we are acting in the manner we wish to.
For example
I’m feeling angry right now. Ok, let me take a breather. Why am I feeling upset right now, what is happening to make me feel this way, how do I want to react to this, what’s another way I can think about the situation?
This daily check in is to make sure you are living the way you want to and gives us a chance to shift ourselves if need be.
