A sting will usually result in temporary pain, swelling, and redness. However, depending on a person’s allergies and where they are stung, there is still a risk of a more serious or potentially life-threatening reaction.
If you are stung while operating a vehicle, machinery, or power tools, or while working on a ladder, stop what you are doing and move to a safe position.
Assess the situation before continuing. Consider how you are reacting to the sting, whether stinging insects are still active in the area, and any other potential hazards around you. Only resume work when it is safe to do so.

Back to school season is a good time to refresh everyday safety habits.
Simple reminders such as using crosswalks, watching for traffic, wearing backpacks properly, and avoiding loose clothing on the playground can help reduce everyday risks. Adding a small first aid kit to a backpack is another practical step that supports preparedness throughout the school day.
Being prepared helps families and schools respond with more confidence when minor incidents happen.

A safer workplace begins with preparation.
Keeping first aid kits stocked and accessible gives workers the resources they need to respond when an injury occurs. Check supplies regularly, replace missing or expired items, and ensure everyone knows where first aid equipment is located.
Make preparedness part of every shift.

Heat safety starts before you leave the house.
On hot and sunny days, what you wear can affect how comfortable you feel and how efficiently your body manages heat. Choose lightweight, breathable clothing with a comfortable fit that allows air to circulate.
Avoid tight clothing that traps heat and restricts airflow. When workplace requirements permit, consider lighter colours instead of darker ones.
Most importantly, make sure your clothing and required PPE are appropriate for the conditions and hazards on-site.
Dress for the weather and prepare before the shift begins.

Whether it is using two-way radios, following a buddy system, or reporting a potential hazard, every safety measure plays an important role.
Creating a safer workplace takes participation from everyone. Stay aware, communicate clearly, and make safety part of every shift.
Slips, trips, and falls in the workplace are largely preventable.
Here's what you can do:
🧹 Keep workspaces clear of hazards.
🛑 If a hazard can't be removed immediately, take appropriate safety measures to prevent injury. Such as putting up a clear warning/caution sign, blocking the area off, etc.
💡 Ensure that all work areas have proper lighting.
Safety is everyone's responsibility. Do your part.
