How NOT to Go Digital
Expecting Transformation Without Investment:
- Digitalization requires time, effort, and financial investment. Avoid a "set-and-forget" approach.
Lack of Planning:
- Aimlessly venturing into the digital space is like rowing without a destination. Define your goals and create a clear roadmap.
Clinging to Old Habits:
- Digitalization demands a re-evaluation of existing business processes. Don't stubbornly hold on to outdated methods.
Using the Wrong Tools:
- There is no one-size-fits-all solution for every sector and need. It's essential to choose the right tools that align with your business model.
Targeting the Wrong Audience:
- Don't neglect your target audience when designing your digital presence. Understand who you are trying to reach and what platforms and formats they prefer.
Fighting Against Technology:
- Learn to work harmoniously with technology. Resisting digitalization will only hinder your progress.
Resisting Change:
- The digital world is constantly evolving. Is your company culture flexible and open to new ideas?
Important Note:
Remember that digitalization is not an optional luxury for businesses. Even if your specific industry has yet to fully embrace digitalization, recognize that your competitors likely are. Failing to adapt risks leaving you behind.

Google Ranking Factors:
When it comes to effective SEO, it's easy to fall into the trap of always taking the "more" approach: More keywords, more links, more content...
But the truth is, there are a handful of key factors that form the foundation of Google's ranking algorithm. By focusing on these, you can easily leave the competition behind.
Here's a quick look at the factors that make up 80% of success in Google rankings:
- Keyword Usage: Keywords still matter, but they must be integrated naturally into the content.
- Page Experience: Fast loading times and a user-friendly interface are essential!
- Domain Authority: Convince Google that you are a reliable and informative site.
- Content Relevance: Provide the information your target audience is really looking for.
- CTR and Dwell Time: Does your content keep readers on your page? (CTR: Click-Through Rate)

Does Google frequently update its algorithms? Yes, it does.
Recently, I observed a website experiencing a 40% drop in traffic after a Google update. Upon investigation, it was revealed that the site was employing unethical SEO tactics.
What are unethical SEO tactics?
Publishing hundreds of AI-generated blog posts in a week
Purchasing links from spammy PBNs
Selling links to gambling sites
Advocating for parasitic SEO
Remember: All of these are grounds for penalization by Google.
Lessons:
Don't seek quick fixes. SEO is a long-term "game."
Stay away from unethical SEO. Don't try to deceive Google, the results will be disappointing.
Produce high-quality content. This is always the best SEO strategy.
Keep up with Google updates. The algorithm is constantly changing, so you need to adapt as well.
SEO can be complicated, but don't panic! If you follow the right steps, you can increase your website traffic.

One of the BEST things you can do for organic traffic growth to start the year is update old content!
๐ Every marketing team right now is excited to create new content and that's great! Keep going; it's how you grow and reach new audiences.
However, it's worth noting that there are likely PLENTY of older content pieces that need a facelift and will give your organic traffic a boost. ๐
Google loves:
โณFresh content with up-to-date information
โณValue to users
โณWebsite reliability and quality
When you update old content, you check all of the above points and Google will love you for it.
Simple way to do this: ๐
1. Log into GA4: Open your Google Analytics 4 property.
2. Navigate to Reports: From the left-hand menu, select "Reports".
3. Go to Life Cycle: Click on "Life Cycle" in the left sidebar.
4. Select Engagement: Under "Life Cycle", choose "Engagement".
5. Open Pages and Screens Report: Click on "Pages and screens" within the Engagement section.
6. Set Date Range: In the top right corner, adjust the date range to the last 12 months.
7. Analyze Data: Look for pages with high views but lower engagement metrics like time on page or pages with high exit rates. These might be candidates for updates.
At the end of the day, itโs all about balance.
Updating older content + creating new content = killer content program. ๐ฅ

If you're not growing, you're dying.
Full stop.
When you're looking at growth numbers, flat lines might as well be red lines, no matter what the metric is.
โ Organic traffic
โ Page 1 rankings
โ Net-new backlinks
โ MQLs from organic
โ SQLs from anywhere
โ Organic-sourced pipeline
Doesn't matter.
If you're just treading water, someone else is riding the wave in front of you. Fall far enough behind and you'll never catch back up.
It's a pretty simple equation, really...
Declining ........ โ
Flat ................. โ
Improving ....... โ
Instead of trying to explain away flat growth & convince yourself it's not a bad thing, actually do something about it.
Flat charts for key numbers?
โณ INVEST attention & resources toward them.

No, creating content is *not* what you need to rank on Google.
In all these years Iโve worked in content marketing, Iโve seen all kinds of content:
๐คข Terrible content performing
๐ Terrible content not performing
๐ Great content performing
๐ Great content not performing
๐ Meh content performing
๐ Meh content not performing
You get the gist.
So, if itโs not creating content that gets you โthereโ, and if itโs not always the quality of the content that gets you โthereโ... what is it?
Letโs talk about a crucial moment in publishing content: When is the content โgoodโ enough to go live and bring results?
Publish content that is not up to standard and you've wasted time and money.
Publish content after spending too long and too much to make it "great" and you've wasted time and money.
You need to have a clear idea of what your content should look like as a minimum in order to bring results.
This idea of โgood enoughโ is what I call โcontent MVPโ.
It comes from the concept of MVP in product development.
And it relies on this basic principle: You can launch content when it fulfils a number of criteria to make it "viable" (in the context of Search, for example, this means having the potential to rank).
You launch it with the aim to monitor its performance for a set period.
So then you can iterate based on the insights you've collected during this time.
This became a full framework which allowed me and my teams over the years to publish content at scale to reach our goals - even when our resources were limited.
For example:
It allowed us to grow organic traffic to the Semrush blog 7x.
It generated 10x ROI for an ecommerce client within 12 months.
Below Iโve summarised 6 of its crucial milestones.

The Biggest Mistakes E-commerce Sites Make in SEO
These mistakes often lead e-commerce sites to completely abandon SEO.
๐ ๐ถ๐๐๐ฎ๐ธ๐ฒ:
Targeting overly competitive keywords.
These are usually the keywords that come to mind when people think of their products.
For example, you sell handmade soaps.
At first glance, "natural soap" seems like a good keyword, but,
The keyword has high search volume and purchase intent.
*However, the problem is that it's nearly impossible to rank for this keyword due to high competition.
Instead...
Focus on alternative keywords for your soaps.
Are they vegan?
Do they have aromatherapy properties?
Are they specific to skin types?
*Targeting long-tail keywords will bring you much faster results.
For instance, target terms like:
'vegan soaps'
'aromatherapy soaps'
'soaps for dry skin'
*These terms will be much less competitive.
*And also much more likely to convert.
Even if your brand is new, your chances of ranking for these terms are much higher compared to the more competitive ones.
Don't make SEO harder for yourself. ๐
