Thompson Humane Society

Thank you to Dr. Melanie Youngs for doing a walk through today at the Thompson Humane Society’s (THS)Animal Health and Welfare facility at 40 Nelson Road. The THS committed this past summer to providing an update to the community in the fall on its efforts to bring regular veterinary services to the City of Thompson.

We are happy to announce that once the THS acquirers the balance of its veterinary equipment and complete’s the rest of its needed renovations to satisfy the PIPS (Property Inspection Property Standards) inspection which is done by the Manitoba Veterinary Medical Association, Dr. Youngs will be operating regular veterinary services at 40 Nelson Road on a part time monthly basis.

The THS is committed to working with Dr. Youngs and other veterinarians to have long term regular veterinary services for the region.

Expected start up of regular services will be early next year. The THS will continue to provide updates. A big thank you to Dr Youngs for working with the THS.

A big thank you goes out to Elder Calhoun and Elder Cleverley for rolling up your sleeves and working in the rain and mud to help fix up the outside kennels and to spend some time with our pups North and South!

Shout out to Arlene at City Center Mall and R2 City Centre LP for their generous donations of supplies to the Humane Society. It's very much appreciated.

Today the Thompson Humane Society will be hosting their 5th Poker Tournament at the Royal Canadian Legion. Buy in is $100 with rebuys set at $50 with a maximum of 3 rebuys. Register early - Registration opens at 1:30 pm, seating at 2:45 pm and the game starts at 3:00 pm. All net proceeds from the Poker Tournaments go towards the operations of the Animal Shelter. Total prize payout is 70% of the prize pool.

These are some items our shelter frequently uses or could use. We are in particular needing the large black KONGS. If anyone has any they don't use and would donate or would like to donate through our amazon cart, we'd be grateful!

These two handsome brothers are deemed "Purebred Northern Dogs"!!! They just came in from an Animal Control program in a nearby community, found as strays. Estimated to be 6 months old.

Thanks to Dr. Peters services in Thompson this month, these boys will go to their new homes neutered!
