Serving People & Communities in the Northwest

πŸŽ‰ Five years of The Garage!

Yesterday we celebrated a double milestone β€” the 5th anniversary of The Garage Community Space AND Sharon's 65th birthday. What a joy to mark both with the people who make this space what it is. Happy birthday, Sharon! πŸŽ‚

For five years, The Garage has been a safe, welcoming space for everyone in our community. It's where service providers connect, where people can find the support they need, and where there's always a warm cup of coffee waiting.

If you haven't stopped by yet, come see us! The Garage is open every Thursday from 9 am to 1 pm β€” everyone is welcome. Lunch, coffee, tea, and snacks are provided.

Here's to the next five years. πŸ’™

On Thursday, June 11, TDCSS Community Law, the BC Chapter of the Canadian Hard of Hearing Association, and Knox United Church partnered to bring a special in-person workshop to Terrace β€” Living Well with Hearing Loss.

The presentation, led by Ruth Warick, President of the CHHA BC Chapter, was incredibly informative and inspiring. Ruth shared hands-on guidance on adaptive technology and offered practical, meaningful strategies for social inclusion for those affected by hearing loss.

We were also joined by a local organizer who has started a peer support group within her own social network, and together we explored ideas for systemic reforms that better serve our community.

This event marks the beginning of building a more collaborative network of supports and advocacy for the hearing loss community right here in Terrace. We are grateful to everyone who came, shared, and listened. πŸ’™

What an incredible day!
On May 11, we welcomed our community to celebrate the opening of our new building β€” home to both Foundry Terrace and Park Seniors Housing. The turnout was beyond anything we could have hoped for, and the energy was absolutely wonderful.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who came out to tour the building, meet our team, and share in this milestone with us. Seeing youth, seniors, families, partners, and community members all under one roof was a beautiful reminder of why this project matters.
A huge shout-out to Bevan and the crew at Redneck Kitchen β€” they served over 300+ people and kept everyone happily fed. We can't thank you enough for being part of this with us.
This building represents years of work, partnership, and belief in what's possible when a community comes together to support people across every stage of life. We're so grateful to share it with all of you.
Here's to what comes next. πŸ’™
