She fought rare disease with bravery and strength like none other. She battled Hirschsprungs, SCID, a Bone marrow transplant, SVC Syndrome and received her life saving bowel transplant Aug. 2023. Though she be but little, Bella was fierce! Bella also had CHH (a form of dwarfism.) She was an advocate for many; SickKids Hospital, Pattison Childrens, RMHC CAD & Global just to name a few. Watching him carry this on for his sister, sending his love with each toy, knowing why the kiddo getting bloodwork might need it⦠breaks & mends my heart at the same time. šā¤ļøāš©¹
Bellaās Basket is something Bella started years ago for our local hospital lab here in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. We fill it with toys & little gifts for kiddos who have to come in for bloodwork & pokes, the hard appointments Bella knew all too well.
Thank you will never feel big enough for everyone who has donated toys, sent gifts, supported Bella Brave merch, or helped us refill Bellaās Basket over the years. Every purchase from BellaBrave merch goes directly back into filling this basket for local kiddos. š
One of my biggest hopes is that someday we can expand Bellaās Basket into more hospitals & help even more children facing scary appointments.
And to the kiddos picking a toy from Bellaās Basket, we hope you feel some comfort, some love, and even a little sprinkle of brave.

Real talkā¦
I am so incredibly thankful to Horizon School Division for inviting me to speak to your youth and support their mental health.
I came to support theirs⦠and they supported mine. ā¤ļøāš©¹
Thank you for the love, every hug, every smile, and for the way you embraced my Bella and her brave story.
How blessed am I to hear her name echoed in a room like that. š¤
You were right here,
and now the world moves on
My heart was whole
and now half is gone
It hurts and heals
walking the spaces where you were
Where your smile was
and is everyoneās cure
Iāll keep coming back
Holding these memories tight
Always and forever
Sharing your legacy & light
I was so honoured to be invited to the Legislative Building and to see my daughter Bella recognized for the impact sheās had through her advocacy & philanthropy⦠not only for our province & country but worldwide. To see my daughterās legacy recognized at this level has left me speechless, it means the world.
Iām so deeply grateful to Darcy for using his voice to honour Bella and carry her legacy even further. Thank you to everyone involved for taking the time to recognize my daughter Bella Thomson, for saying her name, and for continuing to share her light.
And guess what? Thereās more!
Iāll be back at the Legislative Building next week for more thatās been happening behind the scenes. Iāve been collaborating with a team from our Saskatchewan government on an organ and tissue donation video to help amplify this message and encourage others to register. Stay tuned š¤

Today I paused and asked myself⦠have I actually registered?
I swabbed my cheek years ago, so I assumed I had. But thatās not the same thing.
𧬠Swabbing your cheek = joining the stem cell registry (to help someone while youāre living) ā”ļø www.blood.ca
š©š¼āš»Registering online = consenting to organ & tissue donation after death. ā”ļøOrgandonor.Saskatchewan.ca
When I realized I hadnāt formally registered, I didnāt panic. Iāve spent years sharing this, speaking about it, encouraging it, so everyone around me, knows my answer. And that matters.
But I also learned this:
In those critical moments, time is everything. If a medical team can quickly access your registered consent, it can mean the difference between organs being viable, or not. Between lives saved, or missed.
Conversations are powerful.
But making it official removes the guesswork when every second counts.
Bellaās life was hugely shaped by donors. A bone marrow transplant at age 1, by a living donor in Germany. And her bowel transplant from her 4-year-old hero, Waylon Sam.
Because of donors, we were given more time with my daughter. So today, I made sure I formally registered, in honour of my Bella.
There isnāt a place to formally āregister in honour of someoneā on the siteā¦
but sharing online or discussions with family & friends is how their legacy carries forward. Thatās how more lives are saved.
If you think youāve already done it, please double check. If you havenāt, this is your sign. It takes minutes.
For Bella. For Waylon Sam. For Logan Boulet. For every family still waiting. š
Ever heard of the Caring Cookie? šŖā¤ļø
They might look like a simple treat⦠but every cookie has a pretty powerful purpose.
Every time you buy a Caring Cookie at McDonaldās, a portion of the proceeds helps support families with sick and injured children staying at Ronald McDonald House across the country. Ronald McDonald House programs surround families with compassionate care and essential support so they can stay close to their child during medical care.
Today I brought some Caring Cookies to the students and staff at Maverick School in Swift Current and had them help me guess the names of the three new flavours. Letās just say⦠the guesses (and my cookie puns) got pretty creative. š
The new Caring Cookie flavours are:
š« Chewy Chocolate Chunk
š Rainbow Sprinkle
š„ Toasted Sāmores
A small cookie⦠with a big impact.
If youāre heading through the drive-thru or ordering your next meal, consider adding a Caring Cookie (or a six-pack!) to your McDonaldās order. Itās a simple way to help support families who rely on Ronald McDonald House across Canada while their child receives medical care.
Which Caring Cookie is your first pick?

šØ BREAKING: Iāve been paw-rested. š¾
Criminal levels of inspiring the internet landed me behind bars in the Jail & Bail fundraiser for . š
The judge clearly wasnāt a cat person because my bail has been set at $3,000.
So now Iām officially behind bars⦠and apparently the only way out is if my friends help bail me out. Iād really
purr-fer not to be here fur-ever, so if you can spare a few dollars to help chip away at my bail, Iād be very grateful and the kitties & pups will be paws-itively thankful too. š¾š¶š±
You can donate using:

Every single dollar raised goes 100% to the animals at the Swift Current SPCA, helping provide food, shelter, and care for the animals.
Being part of this fundraiser means a lot to me. Bella & I loved to visit the shelter together, bringing toys and donations for the kittens & cats. The kitties were her favourite. The staff were always so kind letting us sit and play with as many kitties as Bella wanted. Those are really special memories for me. We also shared many sweet memories with our own pets over the years, & during her long hospital stays, the pet therapy visits meant so much to her too. Animals always had a special way of bringing her comfort & joy. ā¤ļø
If youāre able to donate even a few dollars to help meet my bail, thank you. And if not, sharing this post helps too!
Mark your calendar! On Saturday, March 21, weāll be at the Swift Current Mall in front of Safeway from 11amā2pm encouraging the community to help bail out us inmates. If youāre local, come say hi and see if Iām still behind bars š
. You can donate there in person and if my bail is met by 2pm, weāll be celebrating my release together. š¾
You can also follow along for updates at or visit their website to learn more about the fundraiser running March 9ā21.
Now⦠letās see if we can get me out of here before I start making friends with my fellow inmates. š¾š
