Latest updates on the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) as of June 2025:
1. 🎯 Nomination Caps & Returned Applications
Sector cap implemented: In March 2025, SINP introduced a 25% cap on nominations for transportation, retail, and accommodation & food services combined.
Cap reached: As of June 2025, this cap has been met, and new applications in these sectors are being returned, though Job Approval Forms (JAFs) are still accepted in case unused nominations open up later
2. JAF Intake & Prioritization (March 27, 2025)
Pause lifted: SINP paused JAF intake on Feb 18, then resumed on Mar 27, and has confirmed no further pauses planned for 2025
Overseas recruitment limited: Only candidates outside Canada in health, agriculture, and skilled trades sectors are now prioritized for JAF approvals. Others must already be temporary residents working for the employer.
3. Program Closes Major Streams
As of March 27, 2025, the following streams are permanently closed to new applications:
Entrepreneur
International Graduate Entrepreneur
Farm Owner/Operator
📌 Existing EOIs submitted before the cutoff will still be processed.
4. Student & Open Work Permit Changes
Student stream restrictions: Only graduates from Saskatchewan DLIs with at least 6 months of relevant paid work in provincial field/study work qualify. PGWP holders from other provinces are no longer eligible
Open Work Permits: Certain OWP holders (e.g., spousal permits) are now ineligible—SINP aims to prevent exploitation and improve retention
5. No EOI Draws in 2025
EOI draws on hold: No draws for Express Entry, Occupations in Demand, or Employment Offer streams have occurred in 2025. EOIs submitted without Saskatchewan job offers have either been or will be returned/refunded .
✅ Summary of What This Means for You
Transportation/Retail/Food/Truck:
Applications returned; may resume if nominations reopen
Health, Agriculture, Skilled Trades
Overseas candidates eligible—with valid job offers
Other Sectors Overseas:
Must be working in Canada already on temporary status
Student Stream:
Only SK DLI graduates with relevant work experience eligible
Open Work Permits:
Spousal OWPs and similar permits now ineligible
Business Streams:
All closed to new applicants
EOI Draws:
Suspended for 2025
🔍 What You Should Do Next
For Employers: Continue submitting JAFs now—priority sectors still open, and cap-affected sectors MAY resume later.
For Applicants:
If overseas, target jobs in health, agriculture, or trades with Saskatchewan-based offers.
If you're a student in SK DLI, ensure you have paid experience in your field.
Avoid applying through retired streams—focus on Employment Offer or current eligible pathways.
Stay Updated: Monitor SINP allocation shifts—more caps may be reached, and new draws or eligibility adjustments could appear.
Would you like help identifying high-demand occupations in SK or drafting effective job offer strategies in health, agriculture, or trades sectors?

Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP): Your Pathway to Canadian PR in Smaller Communities
The Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP) is a unique federal immigration program designed to attract skilled foreign workers to smaller Canadian communities that face labour shortages and declining populations.
Unlike Express Entry, RNIP offers a more accessible, community-driven pathway to permanent residence (PR) for eligible candidates willing to live and work in a participating rural or northern area.
✅ Key Benefits of RNIP
Lower CRS Score Not Required: RNIP is not points-based like Express Entry. Even those with lower education or limited work experience may qualify.
Community Endorsement: Candidates receive a recommendation from a local community based on ties to the area and local labour needs.
PR + Work Permit Support: Once recommended, applicants can apply for PR and are eligible for a temporary work permit to start working while waiting.
Faster Processing: RNIP applications are often processed more quickly than some PNP or federal streams.
📍 Participating Communities (as of 2025)
Some of the approved communities include:
Vernon, British Columbia
Brandon, Manitoba
Sudbury, Ontario
Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan
North Bay, Ontario
Thunder Bay, Ontario
West Kootenay, BC
Timmins, Ontario
(Check for updates as communities may join or exit the program.)
