Cooler weather does not always mean the end of tick season. 🍂
Mild BC falls can keep ticks active well into October, especially during outdoor walks, hikes, and time spent in wooded or grassy areas.
Make tick checks part of your fall routine. Check your pet’s coat and skin after outdoor adventures, and keep their parasite prevention up to date.
Heading out for a fall adventure? Talk to Apollo Animal Hospital about the right tick prevention plan for your pet.

Is your hamster sneezing more as the seasons change? 🐹
A sneeze isn’t always an allergy. Changes in temperature, indoor heating, dust, bedding, or other environmental factors can affect small mammals.
Keep your hamster’s habitat warm, stable, clean, and free from drafts. If sneezing becomes frequent or is accompanied by nasal discharge, breathing changes, reduced appetite, or lethargy, it’s worth getting them checked.
Concerned about your hamster’s health? Contact Apollo Animal Hospital to schedule a veterinary assessment.

🎃 Pumpkin season is here, and your pet may be curious about getting a taste! 🐾
Plain, cooked pumpkin can be a nutritious addition to some pets’ diets and is a source of fibre. However, not every pumpkin treat is pet-friendly. Pumpkin pie filling, spiced pumpkin desserts, and products containing ingredients such as excessive sugar, spices, or other additives should be avoided.
If you want to share pumpkin with your pet, keep it plain and prepared appropriately, and introduce new foods in moderation. 🍂🐶🐱
Have questions about whether pumpkin or a seasonal treat is safe for your pet? Contact Apollo Animal Hospital for guidance tailored to your pet’s individual needs.

Back-to-school season can mean big changes to your dog’s daily routine. 🐶🎒
If your pup suddenly becomes more clingy, vocal, restless, or destructive when you leave, the change in schedule may be contributing to separation-related stress. Gradually adjusting their routine, adding enrichment, and creating a calm departure routine can help them feel more secure.
Has your dog been acting differently since the back-to-school routine began? If the changes persist, talk to your veterinary team for guidance.

Wet walks can leave your pet’s paws damp, irritated, or vulnerable to debris and buildup. After rainy adventures, give those paws a quick check, wipe them clean, and dry them thoroughly. 🐾
A little paw care can help keep your pet comfortable all season long!

🍄 Mushroom season is here & that means extra caution for curious pets.
After rain, mushrooms can quickly appear in Fraser Valley yards, parks, and trails. While some are harmless, others can be toxic and may cause serious illness if eaten. Since it can be difficult to identify a mushroom by appearance alone, it’s safest to prevent your pet from sniffing, licking, or eating unknown mushrooms. 🐾
Keep a close eye on your pet during walks and check your yard regularly for new growth.
Think your pet may have eaten a mushroom? Don’t wait for symptoms, contact Apollo Animal Hospital at +1 (604) 372-4411 for guidance.
