Small fact for your Monday: the maple-leaf flag is younger than most of our parents.

Raised for the first time on February 15, 1965. Designed by George Stanley, an army historian from New Brunswick. Sixty-one this year.

Bring one to the field on June 30.

Help us build the pre-show playlist.

Doors open at 6. The bands hit the main stage at 6:30. In that first 30 minutes — we want to play 30 minutes of the best Canadian music we can find.

Tragically Hip, Blue Rodeo, Shania, Drake, Anne Murray, the Hip again. Drop one Canadian song in the comments. Most-liked picks make the cut on June 30.

🎵 What’s your pick?

Canada Day used to be called Dominion Day. Renamed in 1982. Same date, new name, same fireworks.

A small fact for your Thursday.

T−33 until Strathroy-Caradoc Canada Day. See you the 30th. 🇨🇦

Want to help us pull this off?

We’re looking for about 80 volunteers for June 30. Two-hour shifts. Setup crew (afternoon), gate counters, parking guides, vendor support, breakdown crew (late). T-shirt and a real thank-you on us.

If you can lend a few hours — email [email protected] or use the signup form on our website. Especially looking for youth groups, sports teams, service clubs, and parents who want to bring the kids along.

This is the side of the event the public doesn’t see. It’s a great one.

Director. Organizer. Problem-solver. Birthday guy! 🥳

Please join us in wishing one of our Directors and Organizers Matt Laberge a very happy birthday today!

He is the glue that holds our committee together, and he's working incredibly hard behind the scenes to make our upcoming June 30th celebration the best one yet. Have a great day, Matt! 🎆

Where the money goes.

Every dollar raised at Strathroy-Caradoc Canada Day goes to the Ontario Student Nutrition Program, run locally by VON. That program puts breakfast and snacks in front of kids in our own schools — the ones our kids and grandkids go to.

Free admission. $20 parking. Local vendors donating a slice. The drone show, the fireworks, the bands — that's the wrapper. The point is the kids.

“Isn’t Canada Day on the 1st?”

Yes. We celebrate on the 30th. Here’s why.

Booking the drone show one night early costs us about half what it would on July 1. That savings becomes a meaningfully bigger cheque to the Ontario Student Nutrition Program — the one that puts breakfast in front of kids in our local schools.

Same sky. Same flag. Same kids on shoulders. We just call it “Almost” Canada Day — and Canada Day proper stays yours, with your family, on the 1st.

A few things we’ll never forget about year one.

The field, full by seven. The way the kids tipped their heads back when the drones lifted. The line at the Lions Club kitchen that snaked past the beer tent. The cheque we wrote to VON because of all of it.

Year two is coming. Tuesday, June 30. Bring everyone.

Hi Neighbours. We’re back.

The committee has been heads-down for a few months — and we owe you some updates. Strathroy-Caradoc Canada Day is on for Tuesday, June 30, behind SDCI at the Gemini Sportsplex fields. Same blanket-on-the-grass evening, bigger drone show, more food trucks, more toilets, free shuttle from downtown.

We’re a little behind on posts, so the next few weeks here will be a sprint — two a day until we’re current. Schedule, lineup, parking, bus route, vendors, volunteer signup, the works. Follow along.

See you on the field.

🍁 Tuesday, June 30 · 6 PM · Gemini Sportsplex (behind SDCI, 667 Adair Blvd)

Free admission · $20 parking · In support of the Ontario Student Nutrition Program (VON)
