Membership based Academy where structured academics meet outdoor exploration.

Today’s Science Fair was a beautiful reminder of what children are capable of when they are given the opportunity to explore, discover, and take ownership of their learning.

From researching their topics to conducting experiments, organizing their findings, and confidently presenting their results, every project was completed independently by the students. They faced challenges, solved problems, learned from mistakes, and persevered until their ideas came to life.

The science was impressive, but what stood out even more were the skills behind the projects: confidence, communication, critical thinking, responsibility, and pride in a job well done.

Watching the children explain their discoveries with enthusiasm and confidence was a powerful reminder that education is about so much more than memorizing facts. It is about developing curious minds, strong character, and a lifelong love of learning.

A heartfelt thank you to all the families and friends who attended. Your questions, encouragement, and genuine interest helped make this day even more meaningful. The smiles on the children’s faces said it all.

Today, they weren’t just learning science.

They were becoming scientists.

💙🌿 At River Stone Academy, we believe children learn best when they are encouraged to explore, create, question, and discover what they are truly capable of.

At River Stone Academy, we believe physical fitness is a critical part of childhood development. Healthy, active children are better able to focus, learn, problem solve, build confidence, and develop resilience. 💪

Throughout the academy year, our students participate in a wide variety of physical activities designed to build teamwork, coordination, leadership, perseverance, and overall wellness. Some of the activities our children have been enjoying include:

⚽ Soccer
🏐 Volleyball skills including bumping, serving, and volleying
🥎 Soccer baseball
🚩 Capture the Flag
🔥 Dodgeball
💪 Multiple weekly fitness classes
📣 Cheerleading skills and movement training

Our approach to education goes beyond academics. We believe movement matters. Children were designed to move, explore, challenge themselves, and build confidence through real experiences.

Strong body. Strong mind. Strong future.

Because skills grow fastest in children who believe they can learn.

They can be taught math formulas, grammar rules, or how to memorize facts.

What is harder to teach is resilience.
Work ethic.
Leadership.
Curiosity.
Ownership.
Humility.
Discipline.
Confidence.
The ability to fail and try again.

Mindset comes before mastery.

A child who is willing to struggle, make mistakes, ask questions, and keep showing up will often go further than the child who simply knows the answers.

We should care just as much about who children are becoming as what they are learning.

Character first.
Skills second.

That is where real success begins.

The future is uncertain. Your child does not have to be.

Technology changes. Careers change. Educational systems evolve.

The children who thrive will be those who can communicate, think critically, work with others, lead, adapt, and continue learning throughout life.

Those skills are woven into daily experiences at River Stone Academy.

Money, money, money 💰

Behavior beats knowledge more often than people like to admit.

A person can know:
• how to eat healthy → but not have the discipline to do it
• how to manage money → but overspend
• how to be kind → but react with anger
• how to succeed in business → but avoid hard work or consistency

Knowledge is potential. Behavior is action.

In real life, people are usually rewarded for habits, reliability, resilience, communication, work ethic, honesty, emotional control, and persistence. Those are behaviors.

That said, behavior without knowledge has limits. Someone who works extremely hard with poor information may stay stuck. The strongest combination is:

Knowledge × Behavior = Results

Even average intelligence with excellent habits often outperforms high intelligence with poor habits.

This is why children who learn:
• to keep trying when frustrated
• to cooperate with others
• to take responsibility
• to admit mistakes
• to stay curious
• to follow through

often do very well later in life. Those traits compound over years.

A simple way to put it:

Knowledge tells you what to do.
Behavior determines whether you actually do it.
Character decides how consistently you keep doing it.

Real life tends to reward consistency more than raw ability.

The perfect educator is not what students need; a real one is. Educators who laugh at their own mistakes, celebrate successes, empathize with frustration, and understand the difficulty of learning. Educators who see children as individuals and understand what motivates, inspires, and challenges them, helping them thrive. Children require educators who embody humility, empathy, humor, safety, and authenticity, rather than authority figures towering above them; instead, they need people who will learn alongside them. Confidence is rooted in connection rather than perfection.

At River Stone Academy, we believe learning was never meant to happen in isolation. Sitting at a desk, speaking to no one. In the real world, success often comes from working with others, sharing ideas, asking questions, problem solving as a team, and learning from different perspectives. That is why we encourage children to collaborate, discuss math strategies together, brainstorm writing ideas, support peers, and work cooperatively on projects.

We see value in children learning with one another, not simply beside one another.

Today our River Stone Academy crew headed to 400 RC Compound Steelers Park and let’s just say… there may have been a few future racing champions discovered 🏆

The children had an absolute blast learning the ins and outs of RC racing, practicing hand eye coordination, problem solving, focus, reaction time, and working both sides of their brain… all while having way more fun than sitting behind a video game screen.

A huge thank you to the team at RC Compound for welcoming our students and families, showing us not one but TWO amazing tracks, sharing your knowledge, and patiently teaching us the ropes of RC racing. Your passion for the sport was contagious.

Most importantly, days like this remind us how valuable community is; parents connecting, children cheering each other on, lots of laughs, trying something new, and making memories together.
