Strange Odor Investigation🚒
On June 24 at 22:03 SFR was dispatched to a report of a strange odor in a residence in Shellbrook. Five firefighters responded. No odor was found. Incident #38

Tractor Fire🚜
On June 24 at 23:44 SFR was dispatched to a tractor fire north of Crutwell. Six firefighters/two units responded. The fire was extinguished with the help of the owner. Photos below. Incident #39

Vehicle vs Moose 🫎
On June 26 at 22:51 SFR was dispatched to a moose MVC north of Shellbrook. Incident #40

Smoke Investigation 💨
On June 29 at 18:53 SFR was dispatched to a report of smoke in the RM of Shellbrook. Incident #41

On July 4 at 22:34 SFR was dispatched to a tree fire in the RM of Shellbrook. Incident #43

On July 12 at 01:54 SFR was dispatched to CO alarms at a residence in Shellbrook. Incident #44

Two Vehicle MVC🚒
On July 16 at 12:22 SFR was dispatched to a two vehicle MVC near Crutwell. Incident # 46

Grass Fire 🔥 🚒👨‍🚒

On June 14, 2026 at 11:41, Shellbrook Fire and Rescue was dispatched to a ditch fire east of Shellbrook.

The fire was quickly extinguished. Cause is unknown. Seven firefighters/three units responded. Incident #37

Vehicle vs Moose 🫎 🚗🚒

On June 13, 2026 at 23:00, Shellbrook Fire and Rescue was dispatched to a vehicle collision with moose near Crutwell. Upon arrival, it was noted that a vehicle had collided with a cow moose and her calf. EMS on scene. No injuries were noted.

Tree Struck by Lightning 🌩️ 🚒

On June 2, 2026 at 22:44, Shellbrook Fire and Rescue was dispatched to a report of lightning striking a tree near Holbein.

Three firefighters/two units responded. Investigation revealed that rain extinguished any fire that may have started. Incident #35

Two vehicle MVC 🚗👨‍🚒🚒

On May 19, 2026 at 07:55, Shellbrook Fire and Rescue was dispatched to a two vehicle MVC at the intersection of Hwy 3 and 40. RCMP and EMS also on scene. One person went to hospital with unknown injuries. Six firefighters/three unit attended. Incident #33

On May 21, 2026 at 18:23, Shellbrook Fire and Rescue was dispatched to a vehicle in a slough at Hwy 240 and Sugar Hill Rd. Upon arrival it was noted that someone was pulling the vehicle out of the slough, and it was determined no further assistance was necessary. Incident #34

Weather has a direct impact on aerial firefighting. When conditions reduce visibility, helicopters and aircraft cannot operate safely on a wildfire.

🛩️ Air tankers need at least 2 miles (3.2 km) of visibility
🚁 Helicopters need at least 1 mile (1.6 km) of visibility

Fog, smoke, heavy rain, and low ceilings reduce visibility. Without a clear view, pilots may have difficulty avoiding obstacles, terrain, or other aircraft.

☁️ A "low ceiling" means the base of clouds is close to the ground, limiting a pilot’s ability to see hazards and maintain situational awareness. When clouds are very low, conditions become too dangerous to fly.

Since the beginning of the LOBSTICK Fire, 10 helicopters have been assigned, logging over 300 flight hours.

Kinettes-you ladies are amazing. You jumped into action the moment the evacuation notice went out and opened up your building to evacuees. Some of you even helped register those who weren’t tech savvy. Then there was the food prep and organization to make sure people were fed. That was huge!

Thanks to Parkland Meats, Bigway and Amanda Pizza and also those of you who kept the baking and other donations rolling in-big thanks. So tasty.
Thank you to Keith Oreel and his friend for delivering pizza that first night and the food delivery for days after.
