Handy Tip of the Week:
Does your sink stink? You could have blockages in your drain or simply organic build up between the strainer and cup in the sink or anywhere in the drain system. If you have a dishwasher and the drain line doesn't have the proper rise and drop for syphon the smell can come up the sink drain. Most modern kitchen sink drain systems don't need many tools to pull apart and service, but if you are not comfortable doing it please contact a handy person with plumbing knowledge or a professional plumber.

Handy Tip of the Week: space saver addition.
Are you running out of space in your garage and need functional storage solutions? Use your ceilings and walls to your advantage. Using a wall mount bike rack cuts the space needed for bikes in half. You can get a pulley system to hoist your kayaks, paddleboards, or other long items up to the ceiling. The one in the photo was used to hoist a big 2 person kayak up and my client, a 105lb young mom was able to pull it up with ease.
If you are not handy, there are now a few good handymen on the coast besides me, Josh the handyman, Done right handyman and of course me.
We also all build storage bin towers, fixed or rolling.
Time for spring cleaning and reclaim your garage.

Handy Tip of the Week: Dryer edition. Your household dryer works by heating a metal coil and circulating air over it and back into the drum. Failure to maintain and clean/service your dryer on a regular basis can lead to failure and in some cases fire. Over the last year I have serviced 5 dryers that had burnt material in them.
For 2 people and no pets - every 5 years.
For families with kids and pets - at least every 3 years.
The unit should be fully disassembled, every surface cleaned, pull the felt seals and clean, clean and inspect the bearings of all wheels and pulleys (l**e with white lithium grease if needed). Measure the resistance of the heating element. Reassemble and ensure smooth flow in the vent duct. No kinks or excess bends. If you need help, contact me or one of the other appliance repair techs on the coast.

Handy Tip of the Week: please stop using liquid fabric softener in your laundry. It builds up and traps sludge in the inner workings of your washing machine. You should be doing a sanitize clean with the hottest water possible, a tub cleaning tab, and a cup of bleach every three months. You need to clean the filter out at the same time. Some models make this easy by accessing the little trap door in front. Other units you need to call a service tech (there are a couple of us on the coast now).
Reminder if you are getting rid of your old washer or dryer, I will haul it away free and upcycle it for parts or refurbish. Appliance stores charge 30 and 50.
I'm sorry to announce I will be closed the week of Feb 9-13 due to back issues.
I'm trying to get into custom wood working but my garage is small and already over crowded with my other business interests. In order to make easy access to bench top tools without taking up my full bench I made a tool carousel. Tuck it away between storage shelving when not in use.
Next up rolling cut bench.
