paraluman — muse

In this body of work, I investigate the moments in my life where resistance, ritual, and transformation persisted despite feeling like things are falling apart around me. I honour the boy who moved from the Philippines to Canada, the experience of finding new connections without borders, and most importantly, the resistance of joy. This exhibition includes work that was co-created through collaborations with people from my own community, my family, my lifelong friends, and exciting new connections.

This body of work is an exploration of the q***r immigrant experience, the fantasy of drag, and the interconnectedness of human to human and human to the earth. These ideas are explored through autoethnographic makeup prints, video performance work on hydrofeminism, and fashion sculptures that transforms my human experience.

I invite you to come and experience paraluman at Bridges Art Movements, Drinkle Mall June 18–20, Gallery Hours 1pm–5pm, for a quieter, low-stimulation time with the art. June 21 will be a matinee closing reception from 1pm–5pm with wine and snacks.

This Ta**us turned 28 today! Another full trip around the sun, and the journey has been a beautiful one. I’m working on really cool projects behind the scene, that I just can’t share yet. I’m exciting for this new chapter full of creation, abundance, hope and love! These are new works and studies I created this past month :) talk soon…

dreaming, always — the newest exploration of my makeup wipes series, watercolour and coloured pencils on watercolour paper. Part of my development for , I’m continuing my investigation of revealing and becoming.

I was thinking of makeup charts MUA’s use in their practice, layering it over top the emulated makeup remnants of the wipes using watercolour. Talk soon —
