Gordie Howe Sports Complex

The Saskatoon Sports Hall of Fame announced its class of inductees for 2026 today in the main hall of the Gordie Howe Sports Centre building.

The five athletes heading to the Hall are Dean Bertoia in athletics, Colin Coben in golf, Terry Johnson in wrestling, Kent Kowalski in soccer and Rob Scheller in softball.

The three builders in the 2026 class include Gabriel Brecht in bowling, Bob Haver in rowing and Gary Loy in ringette.

The 2003-04 University of Saskatchewan Huskies Men’s Volleyball team that won the Canada West Conference and U Sports championships is heading to the Hall in the team category.

The Saskatoon 60+ Hockey League was named the Sports Organization of the Year.

The induction ceremony will be held on Saturday, November 7 at 5:30 p.m. at Prairieland Park.

Watch for players who embody the spirit of sport! Nominations are open for the Lazer Autobody Spirit of Sport Awards for Baseball, Football and Softball.

The Lazer Autobody Spirit of Sport Awards will be presented to athletes who have earned the respect of their teammates by continually and consistently displaying integrity, commitment, and sportsmanship, and who are catalysts in making everyone on the field of play feel like they belong. The award includes a cash prize for recipients.
