Sometimes things don’t go the way you plan. However you always have a choice to pivot and enjoy what you’ve got.

We are so thankful for all those who turned our “green space” into a wonderful church family picnic! Thanks especially to those who came early to prepare, helped during and stayed to clean up after.

Laughter, conversation, singing, learning and praying for one another across generations make a huge difference - it’s the gift of being a family.

Well…sometimes, even when the rain comes down, the fun doesn’t have to stop.

Yes…there will still be a picnic. We will be at the SEMC, on the green surface of gym floor. Those who were willing to serve in prep are still required at 10am - in fact we may need a couple more.

No…it will not be outdoors due to the heavy rain forecast and cooler temperatures.

Yes…please come with your lawn chairs, plates cutlery, salads and desserts. Maybe even a picnic blanket.

Yes…please come prepared for a bbq lunch.

Yes…please come ready for some fun.

Yes…please come with a desire to celebrate and connect with others.

Please note that if you invited someone who is not on the SEMC email list then please let them know that we will not be at Suncor Park. They are welcome to join us at the SEMC.

See you soon at the SEMC!

In November 2026, an intergenerational team of 22 people from the SEMC and several other Sarnia churches, will be going to El Salvador with Shelter Canada to build houses for families in need. Our goal for this trip is to build 26 houses at a cost of $4000 each. A new home represents shelter from the storms, safety for family members, and security for possessions.
Donations to the SEMC benevolence fund in the month of June (indicate ES in memo section) will go towards the purchase of homes in El Salvador:

Lambton College is deeply saddened to share that an individual has died following a shooting early this morning during a Student Administrative Council event at a pub on the Sarnia Main Campus. Two other individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

This loss is a profound tragedy. We extend our deepest condolences to the individual’s family, loved ones and friends and to everyone affected by this staggering loss. Our thoughts are with everyone impacted by this senseless act of violence.

The Sarnia campus remains closed today, Friday, April 10. This closure is inclusive of all classes and services at the Main Campus, Fire School, Skilled Trades Training Centre, EarlyON Child & Family Centre, Community Employment Services, and Capstone's Bistro. The Ottawa Campus is not impacted. We ask our community to please avoid campus.

Support is being provided to members of the Lambton College community through Counselling & Wellness and the Employee and Family Assistance Plan.

We continue to work closely with Sarnia Police Service as they investigate. We thank Sarnia Police Service and emergency services for their response. We also thank our Sarnia-Lambton community for their support at this difficult time. We ask that the privacy of our community members and their loved ones be respected.

Lent is a period of 40 days, historically observed by many people of many cultures. It is a period of time designed to challenge each person to do two things. The first is to “deny yourself” or “give up” a regular habit or practice in your life for six days each week (Sundays excepted). Some give up a meal, others give up screen time. The second is to “take up” or focus more intentionally on Jesus Christ: His life, His truth, and His free gift of salvation. The purpose of Lent is to identify, in some way, with the sacrifice of Jesus, and prepare for the fulfillment that comes, by the power of
God, through the resurrection.

This year, the lenten season is between February 17 and April 2.
