I truly was so blessed to have such a fantastic weekend at the Canadian High School Finals Rodeo! Team Alberta did a phenomenal job representing our province and showing our grit and athleticism across the country. Every athlete here should be incredibly proud of themselves! Good job to all of the Alberta athletes who qualified and to those who won Canadian championships!
Canada really is a beautiful place to rodeo and I am so grateful to be an ambassador for the Alberta High School Rodeo Association! 🍁❤️

Fun at CHSFR!! 🇨🇦🤠👑

What duties do queens usually do at rodeos?
Here’s some fun things we have done at most rodeos throughout the season:

🐴 Grand entry for every performance, junior and high school. We carry the Canadian flag, provincial flags and sponsor flags!

🎟️ Fundraising with things like 50/50, raffle tickets, queen draws, selling programs and day sheets, selling dance tickets. Some rodeos also have basket draws and online fundraising.

🗣️ A huge part of our roles is mingling with people and talking to rodeo athletes, fans, volunteers and anyone around the grounds! This is a great chance to educate and share the importance of rodeo culture!

💐 At lots of rodeos there are parades that we ride in! This is a fun experience and helps us to learn about the town we are being hosted by.

🤠 At most rodeos we have the opportunity to help with things like chasing out stock, kids wild pony racing and anything else to keep the rodeo performance running smoothly!

🎗️Especially at pro rodeos there is often a day for cancer awareness where we all wear pink or a day to honour the golden circle of champions where we all wear yellow scarves. Raising funds and awareness while helping and encouraging those affected by cancer is a very important cause.

🥞 Surprisingly, pancake breakfasts seem to be a large part of rodeo and most will have lots of little cowboys and cowgirls stuffing their mouths while getting ready to watch their rodeo heros!

👵🏻 Visiting seniors homes is always a special time and we love to share our queen stories while learning about their experiences and life lessons!

🛢️At the High School Rodeos we are in multiple events and compete for points throughout the weekend!

Although these are just a few activities from a typical day, the queens work very hard and contribute to the sport of rodeo as ambassadors in and out of the arena every day. Being a rodeo queen requires skills in horsemanship, rodeo knowledge, public speaking, and so much more! I am so grateful to be surrounded by such an amazing group of queens here at Canadian HS Finals!

👑 The Queens are going to have a busy weekend here representing our provinces! The CHSFR is such a great experience for Canadian athletes from all across the country to showcase their skills. After coming back from Nebraska, being surrounded by our own group of athletes definitely has an at home feel!
For all of my American friends who have been very curious, Canadian HS Finals is for the top 6 qualifiers from each province in their event. It’s is similar to the structure of nationals but instead of pulling from teams globally, it takes from Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia and Manitoba. We also have all of the juniors competing for the JH Canadian Championship, and we have the junior high provincial princesses here too! This rodeo is so much fun and I wish the best of luck to everyone in the arena!
