Moments in Nature...
One of my favorite times of summer is being able to catch the beautiful fireweed blooming on the slopes of the Rockies. Have you ever seen this?

As August rolls around in Alberta, you may start noticing something a little unusual in the sky or gathering in the trees: crows! š¦āā¬
While it might look like theyāre having a giant neighbourhood meeting, these gatherings are part of the seasonal movements of crows. As summer winds down, crows begin forming larger groups, coming together to feed, roost, and prepare for the months ahead.
And did you know? A group of crows is called a āmurderā! While the name sounds rather ominous, thereās nothing sinister about these gatherings. Crows are highly intelligent and social birds, and larger groups can include several family groups coming together.
You may see dozens, or even hundreds, gathering in trees, fields, or along favourite roosting spots. Listen closely and youāll hear plenty of conversation as they call, socialize, and keep an eye on whatās happening around them.
Have you noticed the August crow gatherings in your area? š¤
Our Date Drive this week led us around the Two Jack's Lake loop & down the Bow Valley Parkway. Never get tired of these gorgeous Canadian Rocky views.

Every wonder what the story is behind an image? š·
Every one of our products features one or more of our own wildlife photographs depicting the awe, wonder and beauty of nature.
And behind every image is a story that we love to share. Today we're sharing the story behind the image of "Nature's Tiny Jewels" ... those amazing hummingbirds.
Every spring, here in the Columbia Valley, we eagerly wait for the return of the hummingbirds.
Often weāll be sitting quietly on our deck when we suddenly hear a loud buzz nearby. Our first thought is always the same - thatās a pretty loud bee! Then we look up and realize⦠itās a hummingbird hovering in midair!
This collage, Natureās Tiny Jewels, features several hummingbirds we photographed last spring during our very first season living in the Columbia Valley. We were incredibly fortunate that the home we were staying in had an extremely high deck overlooking the valley, placing us almost level with the treetops - and thatās exactly where all the action was happening...
Though they may be tiny, hummingbirds bring incredible energy, color, and wonder to every spring day. To us, they truly are natureās tiny jewels.
To learn the rest of the story of "Nature's Tiny Jewels" read about it in our blog at https://backtonatureapparel.com/blogs/stories-behind-the-images/natures-tiny-jewels
All of our stories can be found on our website, alongside every product.

šø Happy World Photography Day!
For us, wildlife photography has always been about so much more than capturing a beautiful image. Itās our therapy, our reason to slow down, be present and simply spend time in the wild places we love.
And somehow, the raven feels like the perfect image to share today.
Ravens have long been seen as messengers between two worlds, moving between the seen and unseen, the familiar and the mysterious. In many ways, we feel photography does the same.
Through our cameras, weāre able to capture a fleeting moment in the wild and carry it back with us. A look, a behaviour, a story that might otherwise have gone unseen. Then, through our photographs, we get to share that moment with you.
Perhaps thatās one of the things we love most about photography. It allows us to be messengers for the wild world we love so much.
Happy World Photography Day from both of us!
Nature is therapy, food for the soul.
