Our good friend Don Schmidt of Toronto died today, he fits in well with some recent deaths and would have been their contemporary,. In this past week or so of deaths. He would have come across George Chuvalo in The junction area of Toronto probably buying Portugese buns, I'm pretty sure he attended plays at 4th Line Theatre where local creative Rob Winslow created some interesting evenings, Not sure of his relation to David Marsden but feel there would have been one even if it was through his friendship with his student Barbara Gregory my sister who knew the Mars Bar....and many of you Peterborough folks would have looked at the PEACE Calendars by the Syracuse Cultural Workers that he and fellow Geography teacher Carol Trainor his spouse passed on to Julia and I every year for decades without fail to share with folk up this way. Please have a thought for Don as he navigates the new territory.

A good friend of ours CCM Dave arranged for his friend Dan in Bowmanville to drop this bike of , mid week. At one time this Gary Fisher Hoo KooE Koo was the cats meow, I have it on authority that the salty air in Cedar Springs Florida ate away at the parts of the bike over the years. It was as real struggle to get the Avid brake levers to close as the spring mechanisims were partially seized, I could not give it away without working brakes and some other issues...I spent agood three hours using all my tricks to free the handles up as well s the nuts that held the cables to the brake calipers. And finally on Friday I got the parts to relax...
I had a woman in mind for the bike whom others reached out to to no avail, she knew there was a bike here. I worry that she is too ill to ride..
anyways today i loaded that Hoo Koo E Koo up and took the bike to Trinity where it was on display on the Rickshaw as I parked in the parking area across the street. But no one seemed interested so knowing my way around the streets I went looking for someone and came across this woman who looked like she needed help to get around as if her legs were tired.. I hailed her over at Stewart and Hunter, I said is your name Angela and she said "how did you know my name was Angela?" I said, "I dunno, it just came to me, you look likean Angela!" she came over we exchanged pleasantries, I asked if a bike would benefit her life, she said it would be great, and I unloaded the nice lime green bike from the Rickshaw. We were both happy and she, Angela went on her way.
