Meet Zoey!

Zoey is part of our Agriculture Program with Thoughts, where she’s been gaining hands-on experience in food production, while also building confidence, leadership skills, and a deeper connection to her community.

Here’s what Zoey has to say about her experience:

“This program has been an amazing experience for me. Being outside all day and learning about gardening was exactly what I dreamed of doing. I can honestly say, this program has been rejuvenating. I’ve learned so much throughout this program about not only myself as a gardener, but also as a leader. To be able to have hands-on learning, it has made me more comfortable sharing my knowledge with others in the program, as I am able to get in with them and show them the tricks and tips I've learned by doing. After experiencing the feeling of growing/nurturing/and tending to the foods we grow and eat, as well as meeting so many people who garden, it has been amazing to connect and bond with a community that is so passionate about what they do. I feel truly inspired from this program, and cannot wait to see the opportunities that will open for me because of a program like this.”

Zoey’s position is supported through Nature Canada's Work to Grow Program, helping provide young people with opportunities to build skills, gain valuable work experience, and explore their interests.

The Bodega is getting a fresh new look!

Our building students have been hard at work installing wood siding and staining the boards to bring a warmer, more natural feel to the building in Perth Andover.

It’s hands-on work, attention to detail, and a chance to see their skills take shape on a real project here in town.

Fresh from the Pathsaala garden! 🌱

Our students are harvesting beans, zucchinis, and cucumbers. Half of the harvest is being pickled, while the rest is provided to the Food Bank or is available as fresh produce in the Pathsaala mini-market fridge.

Things are busy in the Pathsaala Inn kitchen for hotel guests. Our students are learning, cooking, creating and keeping things moving- from breakfast to events and everything in between. We’re pretty proud of what they’re cooking up!

From the garden to the workshop! This week our new trainees have been harvesting yarrow for natural medicine and building their own toolboxes- gaining practical skills, confidence, and experience every step of the way.

We wrapped up our spring Agriculture and Building Program this week while welcoming our newest summer students with a pizza lunch cooked by our Culinary trainees. Congratulations to our graduates, and welcome to the next cohort- we're excited to see what you'll accomplish!
