On Friday May 29th, the City of Ottawa marked AccessAbility Day, celebrating 23 years of recognizing the leadership, accomplishments & lived experiences of people with disabilities who contribute so much to our community. BuildAble was honoured to be a part of such an amazing day at City Hall!

This week, Councillor Marty Carr- Alta Vista Ward/Quartier Alta Vista introduced a Notice of Motion directing the City to explore a partnership with StopGap Ottawa. StopGap provides portable ramps to businesses with single-step entrances, helping make local establishments more accessible to all. The BuildAble team has been proud to volunteer our time to help build these important ramps for the community!

Thank you to Kyle Humphrey for his advocacy and support in advancing this initiative.

The motion will be considered by Council on June 10th.

BuildAble looks forward to continuing its collaboration with colleagues, members of the public, and the City to advance and strengthen accessibility across Ottawa.
