It was with great sadness and love that we said goodbye to foster dog Nugget yesterday (Friday) afternoon. Nugget turned 14 in May, having been taken into palliative foster care with Under My Wing in November, 2023. Pugalug assumed responsibility for her this past June. Foster mom notified us that Nugget had a bad night on Thursday with diarrhea and a hunched back probably indicating pain. She took her to the vet yesterday morning and they did diagnostics - blood work and an X-ray. The news was not good. They saw a mass in Nugget’s chest and fluid and inflammation in her lungs. While most of her blood results were good, there was evidence of anaemia. But the worst news was that Nugget was having difficulty breathing which got worse during the day. We agreed with the vet’s recommendation to humanely euthanize Nugget to put an end to her respiratory distress. Her passing was peaceful with loving foster mom beside her.

Special thanks and heartfelt condolences to Nugget's foster mom and dad who took her in knowing her days were numbered, gave her the best of care and who loved her deeply.

Nugget was a special pug-lady. Run free and breathe deep, sweet girl.

Our time with our furbabies is all too short. Hug them while you can and cherish the pawprints they leave in our hearts.
