Sandhill cranes were heard flying high over Memory Lane. These birds are headed for the southern states or even northern Mexico for the winter. They certainly were not being leisurely on their travels.

Have you gone down to the woods today? No teddy bear's picnic was spotted, but plenty of mushrooms and puffballs were showing their colours along the trails.

While enjoying a stroll at Memory Lane, a stop at the trout pond will provide views of the most efficient predators on the site. Dragonflies own the air, flying forward, backward, sideways and zipping in all directions to capture mosquitoes.

It's haymaking time in the countryside. Bales will be loaded out and headed down the highways and byways as long as the weather holds fair.

Ripening crops are to be seen at every turn enroute to Memory Lane Campground. This is canola, with the long pods filling with oil-rich seeds.
