ProTem Memory Care was again this year a top sponsor of the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s. In addition to sponsoring the walk, our “ProTem Memory Keepers” raised money for the Alzheimer’s Society of N.B. through an in-house walk and online fundraising.

ProTem held our annual in-house walk in mid-May and had some special visitors from a nearby daycare. The weather was perfect - a balmy 16 degrees and sunny. A far cry from last year’s rain and cold.

ProTem Memory Care is proud to announce that our homes in both New Brunswick and Andrews Senior Care homes in Prince Edward Island have achieved Accreditation with Commendation through Accreditation Canada.

Accreditation Canada standards are considered the benchmark for health services in Canada. Accreditation with Commendation means ProTem not only met, but exceeded, the national standards outlined by Accreditation Canada.

“This is a significant achievement for our homes,” said Mizan Uddin, Andrews Group General Manager. “Our teams have worked hard over the past four years and achieving Accreditation is a testament to our dedication to continuous improvement in resident care and experience.”

Director of Nursing for Andrews Senior Care, Alana DesRoches, along with Cathy Fischer, Manager of Special Projects, led the process over the past four years. The two worked in close coordination with the Directors of Care and teams at all five homes in P.E.I. and the five ProTem Memory Care homes in Moncton.

“It was a team effort,” said Alana. “You don’t achieve something like this in a silo. Our Directors of Care, nurses, home operations, dietary, caregivers and activity directors, work hard every day to ensure our residents have exceptional person-centered care and experiences. Accreditation gave us the opportunity to take what we were doing well and make it that much better. I’m extremely proud of our teams.”

Accreditation Canada is an independent organization dedicated to improving outcomes through assessments against global standard, alongside the Health Standards Organization (HSO). For more information about Accreditation Canada go to www.accreditation.ca.

Residents took part in a mock-Kentucky Derby recently.
We dressed up in our fanciest attire and took in the races.
It was a silly, fun-filled afternoon!

Happy birthday to Roberta, who celebrates this week!

Residents took part in Cinco de Mayo earlier this month.
This annual celebration commemorates Mexico's victory over the Second French Empire and features festive dress, drinks and food.

Earlier this month we celebrated Mother’s Day with a "Mimosas and Muffins for Moms" event.

Residents enjoyed muffins, a fun drink and toasted to all the moms and people who support moms. Each lady received a rose and we had a beautiful day reminiscing and honoring one another.
