What a beautiful weekend!

This weekend thousands of Miltonians headed to the 171st miltonfallfair organized by the Halton Agricultural Society. I was pleased to be Acting Mayor to help launch the Opening Ceremonies. I had the opportunity to speak with HAS President Vincenzo Carito who shared that with the help of hundreds of volunteers - including many community organizations- the fair was able to offer tractor pulls, animal displays and shows, home crafts, the midway, food vendors and of course, the demolition derby. Thank you to everyone who made this year’s Fall Fair another memorable one!

The Fine Arts Society of Milton (fineartsmilton) also held the grand opening of their Juried Art Show. This exhibit at the Holcim Gallery welcomed 60 masterpieces that were scrutinized by jurors Joanne Poluch and Claudia Pettigrew. The large crowd was delightfully drawn into the creative world of the participating artists. The exhibit is on until October 3 - don’t wait to check it out!

Mohawk Millions is an annual horse
racing event held at Woodbine Mohawk Park. The event showcases world class standardbred racing. This year’s races did not disappoint as a track record was set by Wrong Sounds Right driven by Todd McCarthy in the evenings main racing event.

Local artists also opened their studios to the public during this year’s Studio Art Tours organized by fineartsmilton. For more than 25 years this self-guided tour has been met with success as thousands of participants engage with our artists who share the history, emotion and technique of their works. I had the pleasure to visit local artist zunairamuftiart in her studio this year. Being surrounded by her artwork and hearing what has motivated and inspired her to create was inspiring. If you didn’t have the chance to participate this year, mark your calendar for next year’s tours! You won’t be disappointed!

A heartfelt thank you to Regional Councillor Colin Best for joining us at the Studio Tour and visiting ZDot Design Studio. It was a pleasure to share my artwork and the stories behind it with you. Your support and appreciation for our local arts community truly means a lot.
