We are starting the search for a reliable, skilled Farm Handyman to join our team at Aztec Equestrian Center in Merrickville, ON. The individual would be responsible for the general maintenance, repair, and upkeep of our farm machinery, buildings, and infrastructure. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with experience in construction, mechanical repairs, and hands-on work in a rural environment. Must be a team player and be able to effectively prioritize tasks. The position is expected to be ~35 hours per week, including some hours on at least one weekend day. Note that this is not an immediate opening. However our current facilities manager is retiring in late spring/early summer and we'd like to have time for the new person to train under him for at least a few weeks. Meet Murphy, a 17 yo Irish Sport horse schoolmaster .ec. Murphy is a barn favorite and he loves to work and teach riders. Retired from 4* eventing, he can do it all. He would welcome an intermediate rider who would like to do local Trillium or Gold shows next season in the hunters or low jumpers, but he'd also be happy to try his hand at equitation or dressage. He's available for in-house quarter or half- lease or for individual lessons. The lease includes private lessons with an EC competition coach. PM us to schedule a visit to meet Murphy!
