Manitoba Bill 19 requires anyone selling dogs, be they a breeder, or a "Rescue" to be licensed. What do you think, should BC have something similar?

For years, we have advocated for stricter legislation to hold backyard breeders accountable and regulate the sale of animals to increase the safety and well-being of pets in Manitoba.

We commend the Province for passing Bill 19, an amendment to the Animal Care Act that increases penalties for animal cruelty and neglect and allows for the creation of a licensing system to help regulate the sale, including online sales, of dogs and puppies.

This is a great first step in protecting these animals in Manitoba, ensuring that those who prioritize profit over animal welfare are held accountable, giving Manitobans more transparency when theyโ€™re looking to add a canine companion to their family.

We are pleased to have consulted with the Province on this bill and look forward to working alongside the government as regulations are developed.

Canada goose shot with arrow rescued in West Vancouver, investigation underway 05/26/2026

Update on the Goose with an arrow in its back.

Surgery went well, we were able to remove the fletching of the arrows and other then the left lung being consolidated, we expect a full recovery. The Bird is now at the Wildlife Rescue Association of BC, where it will stay with the mom and the gosling for a couple of weeks before release.

Just a couple of points. First here at Dewdney we fully support hunting and fishing, heck my retirement will involve both sports when I retire to Haida Gwaii, thats being said, this was not hunting, this was someone being an Ar&ewipe. Do Better.

HUGE shoutout to the BC Wildlife Response Team for capturing this animal.

Canada goose shot with arrow rescued in West Vancouver, investigation underway An adult Canada goose found with a target arrow lodged through its body has been rescued in West Vancouver, an incident the BC Wildlife Response Team calls 'illegal and cruel.'
