Today's topic;
Murphy's Law...and critical learnings...

I guess not all our builds go exactly as planned.

The first build showed some flaws in the thread finish upon drying that required a strip and start over. Major pain in the rear end.

Then; as we are prepping for re-wrap the blank splits because of too high heat when softening the epoxy. We have since invested in a new heat-gun with controllable temperatures to help ensure this won’t happen again. Actually it won’t happen again because I’ve returned to my original process that worked for dozens of previous builds without issue.

That said; 2.0 is freaking beautiful.

This beauty is looking good; and comes after we goofed the first one learning some fantastic lessons along the way. You’re always learning things in this hobby.

We are now well on our way to putting the final wraps on and will be sending this one to its very patient owners soon!

The Story behind “Tinga Blinga”

We are beyond humbled to finish a rod from the “Founders Collection”, going to an amazing lady!

Tinga Blinga is going to the generous winner of an online auction to help support a community legend who always put those around her first.

The community has stepped up in a big way to try and assist any way they can in the fight of her life.

We couldn’t be more honoured to be apart of this effort put on from some good friends.

This was a rod I built for myself to bring with us on our next tropical vacation. It’s a 8wt IM6 Carbon with a premium cork grip and fighting butt.

It was never finished with resin for a few personal reasons. So putting the coats on and knowing where it’s going; made it so much fun.

Donating one of my most favourite pieces… Rod Builders speak to the sentimental attachment to all rods we build - it is real- but this one has meant the most before I found out about the opportunity to contribute it to the effort.

It comes with a gunmetal and burlwood reel-seat and matching guides.
