This challenge board has been the answer to motivating students to learn basic musicianship. Basic skills aren't 'fun' but are essential for making progress in piano lessons. It has been a lot of work to organize but worth every minute. Students take on skill challenges - I send home a package with the pictures/details, and they earn recognition for each completion. All the sticky notes represent the students working on certain challenges. A dot signifies completion. I had always dreamed of building a more comprehensive program, and I think I've found it.

New year about to start! Lots of new ideas to keep that practicing going!

I guess if you start now it will be 2045😉. This meme has been going around for a while but it calls out the quick learning apps or online programs that promise you 'mastery' and enjoyment in a few weeks or months. As a piano teacher, I know that skill building isn't a quick game.
