Congratulations to our Environmental Educator, Dan Mikolay, on receiving the Recycling Council of British Columbia's 2026 Education & Engagement Award! Dan is beloved by both students & teachers in our community and is known by many names - "Dan the Recycling Man," "Dan the Worm Man," & "Dan the Bear Man."

Fun Fact! Did you know Dan has presented over 1000 school workshops on worms & composting?!

Visiting the Recycling Depot in the next two weeks? It will be BUSY!!!! Here are some tips:
1. Check when we're open - Mon-Sat 8am - 5pm, Sun 9am-5pm, It is less busy at the beginning and end of the day. We close at 3pm on New Year's Eve and are closed New Year's Day.
2. Be prepared for a lineup! Bring your patience and good cheer for our hard working staff!
3. PRE-SORT your gift wrap - no ribbons, bows, or non-paper gift wrap in the paper bins. Also pre-sort your recycling - just like your curbside sort, at the Depot we have separate bins for paper, glass, mixed containers, and flexible plastic packaging.
4. PLEASE do NOT drop off bags of unsorted recycling!
5. At the Depot, please be aware of moving vehicles and walk AROUND the perimeter of the parking lot rather than across it.
Stay safe, happy holidays, & thank you for recycling!
