Today, employee ownership became a little more real.
Eligible Taproot employees received their first dividend cheques, and teams across British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario took time to celebrate together.
Our first Dividend Day belongs to the more than 800 people whose care, skill and commitment shape Taproot every day. Being employee-owned means the people doing the work can share in what we accomplish together.
There were many celebrations and moments of pride across Taproot today. Thank you to everyone who made our first Dividend Day one to remember.

Our BC head office and Langley program teams got together last week for a summer BBQ.
It’s not often we get this many of our Langley people together in one place, so we made the most of it. Good food, games, lots of catching up, and a beautiful, sunny afternoon.
These are the people behind the work we do every day, and it was pretty great to spend some time together.
A big thank you to for bringing everyone together, and to everyone who came out and joined us.

Sunday is International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples.
This year’s theme honours Indigenous midwives and the role they hold in safeguarding life and well-being.
It’s a tender theme. And an important one.
Indigenous midwives carry knowledge that formal systems have too often overlooked. Their work reminds us that care is not only clinical. It can be cultural. It can be deeply relational. It can help people feel held in who they are.
In community support work, we see how much changes when people are supported as whole people. Not separate from where they come from. Not separate from who they belong to.
Today, we recognize Indigenous Peoples here and around the world. We honour the knowledge that continues to protect life, strengthen communities and carry future generations forward.
The sign is up, so I guess it’s official.
Our new Langley head office is now home to Central Admin and our Surrey-based outreach and CIC teams, bringing people together in one bright, shared space.
Thank you to for installing our new Taproot sign and helping bring the lobby together.
We’re looking forward to welcoming employees, partners and visitors to our new space.

Happy Canada Day from all of us at Taproot 🍁
Today, we celebrate what matters most, the people, families, and communities who make this place home. Across every community, we're reminded of one simple truth. We're stronger together.
Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful July 1st.

Today is National Indigenous Peoples Day. June 21 is a day to honour First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples and recognize the histories, cultures, languages and contributions that continue to shape communities across Canada.
This day is close to Taproot’s work and relationships. Many of the people we serve, work alongside and learn from are Indigenous. Their knowledge, experiences and leadership matter to who we are and how we show up.
National Indigenous Peoples Day also belongs within the ongoing work of truth and reconciliation. It calls us to keep listening, learning and building relationships with humility and respect.
Today, we honour Indigenous Peoples across Turtle Island and the strength carried through family, land, language, culture and community.

Pride is about visibility. It is also about who gets to imagine a future with love, community, connection and belonging.
After attending a screening of A Place Where I Belong, a documentary following 2SLGBTQIA+ adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, members of our team have been reflecting on what inclusion means in the work we do.
For people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are q***r or questioning, there may be fewer accessible opportunities to connect with 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, fewer visible role models, and fewer spaces where identity can be explored safely.
As service providers, part of supporting full and self-directed lives is listening with curiosity. What may be seen as a behaviour may sometimes be someone expressing identity, seeking connection, or trying to communicate who they are.
This Pride Month, we honour the right to be seen, supported and included in the fullness of who we are.
