Two drivers taken off road for stunt driving
Two motorists have been taken off the road after they were stopped for stunt driving on the same stretch of Guelph road early Tuesday.
Approximately 12:35 a.m., a Guelph Police Service officer was on patrol in the area of Speedvale Avenue West and Elmira Road North when he clocked a vehicle travelling 124 km/h in the posted 60 km/h zone.
The vehicle was stopped and the driver, a 53-year-old Cambridge male, was charged with stunt driving. He was issued a 30-day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
Less than four hours later, just before 4:30 a.m., the same officer was patrolling in the same area when he clocked a vehicle travelling 106 km/h in the same 60 km/h zone. A 64-year-old Rockwood male was charged with stunt driving. His licence was similarly suspended for 30 days and his vehicle impounded for 14 days.

A new driver-owned food delivery service is now operating in Guelph.
Direct Local Eats is a food delivery service that operates through a fair partnership with local restaurants/food vendors and drivers in each city. With only a 5% service fee (which is on average 4-5 times lower than the competitors), this enables businesses to offer lower menu prices to their customers, who in turn save up to 20% by ordering through Direct Local Eats. Drivers also keep 90% of the delivery fee.
Direct Local Eats supports local communities by allowing more money to stay with local businesses and delivery drivers, while consumers enjoy top quality service (where the drivers actually care!).
To order, download the Direct Local Eats app today (available on Google Play or Apple App Store) or visit www.directlocaleats.com
Please support these Downtown Guelph restaurants and food vendors, currently available or coming soon to Direct Local Eats:
To register your business with Direct Local Eats, please visit www.directlocaleats.com/merchantsignup
Drivers interested in joining the co-op can register on www.localdriver.coop and download the Direct Local Eats Driver app from their Google Play/Apple Store.
