If you're a caregiver, an empath, a people pleaser, or just someone who has a really hard time setting & sticking to boundaries, this quote I found is for you. When it says "damaged people," I take it to mean that it's talking about those people who have no interest in growing or putting in the work to become a better human being. It's NOT referring to those of us who've been damaged by the actions of others and who are trying our best to heal and move forward.
It is so difficult to protect yourself and your not limitless energy from those who have no regard for its health but demand it anyways. You can still be present and helpful to others, but on your own healthy terms. Protect your peace and energy!

It's easy to get stuck in the past; it's heavy, it weighs you down, it fills you with regret and recriminations. Wouldn't it be better to "lighten up", to learn from the past but not have it be a weighty burden on your heart and mind? You can't change what happened, but you can change how you approach your future. Shed that burden, step forward with intention, the knowledge of your own strength, abilities and the promise of a brighter tomorrow.
More and more scientific studies are showing that a healthy gut impacts so much more than just your digestive system; it affects brain health too! More reason to eat a healthy diet that includes pre and pro biotics.

I really dislike it when people say, "Everything happens for a reason" or "The energy you put out there is what you attract." Like either there's some great cosmic plan for some peoples suffering or that you want to attract jerks into your life. Bologna! Life is unfair for many that did nothing to warrant it, just like some peoples lives are supremely blessed without them having to do anything for it. You can be upset about it, as long as you don't wallow long in it. You are just as worthy as anyone else for a beautiful life and wonderful things.

I am 100% guilty of this: I always have things I 'have' to do before I feel like I have earned time to do something I enjoy. It's a hard habit to break, especially if it's something your parents and grandparents also did. The fact is that there are always things that need to be done and always will be. Take some time for yourself. Go for a walk in nature, visit a greenhouse, read a book with a cup of tea, write poetry, go dancing; hopefully without the guilt of "there are other things I should be doing right now." Now to follow my own advice!

Many of us spend most of our lives trying to be the perfect person based on someone else's definition: the perfect child, the perfect student, the perfect sibling, the perfect partner, the perfect worker bee. It's an impossible task, and it's like just being you is either too much or not enough, and somehow inherently wrong. Step beyond the programming telling you who you should be, and start letting yourself be who you want to be. Only you can make yourself truly happy with yourself; it's never too late to start. Rise up and become the person you were meant to be!

Growth and progress isn't always linear; sometimes you move forward, sometimes you move back. Life often gets in the way of your plans, throws you a stumbling block, or stops you in your tracks. Some days are harder than others, and there are days where you just don't want to get out of bed and face reality. But we keep trying anyways, putting one foot in front of the other, because there is no going back, only forward. We push ourselves on, because only through our own efforts can we make things a little bit better every day for ourselves and others. We can do it. I believe in you. Keep going.
