I’m not from Nepal, but I’ve been following the recent protests closely. What started as outrage over internet censorship has grown into a powerful youth-led movement demanding justice, transparency, and change. It’s a moment that could reshape Nepal’s future for better or worse.
Here’s what I’ve learned about the potential good and bad impacts of this uprising:
🌟 GOOD IMPACTS
1. Political Awakening
Young people are demanding accountability. This could lead to a new generation of leaders who truly represent the people.
2. Anti-Corruption Momentum
The protests are exposing deep-rooted corruption and nepotism. If pressure continues, stronger laws and cleaner governance may follow.
3. Digital Freedom
The backlash against internet bans could result in better protections for free speech and online rights.
4. Youth Empowerment
Gen Z is showing its strength. This could lead to more investment in education, jobs, and innovation.
5. Global Support
International attention may bring diplomatic pressure and support for reform, helping Nepal rebuild stronger.
⚠️ BAD IMPACTS
1. Political Instability
If reforms stall, Nepal could face years of unrest, weak governments, or authoritarian rule.
2. Economic Collapse
Tourism and foreign investment may decline. Many young people might leave the country, worsening the brain drain.
3. Social Division
Violence and misinformation could deepen ethnic and class divides, making unity harder to achieve.
4. Mental Health Crisis
