Tuesday, May 5th at the Journalism Film Festival 2026 in Waterloo! 🎤📰

👉 Former Regional Chair, Ken Seiling;
👉 Community advocate and author of the Citified substack, Melissa Bowman; and
👉 Stewart Grant, publisher of 12 community newspapers and president of the Ontario Community Newspapers Association.

Public squares have brought people together for thousands of years, but how do we make sure they serve everyone?
This episode explores Waterloo Town Square and the Gaslight District, and how belonging takes intentional design, programming, and hard conversations about who belongs.
As our region grows and housing becomes less affordable, these free gathering spaces aren’t just nice to have, they’re essential.
